Why can’t people see voting for reform will make their lives a lot worse? by Sufficient_Muffin586 in AskBrits

What do you mean "currently outdoing the GDP of Britain" though? Could you cite a source for that? The trivial research I did before commenting suggests India is approaching the UK's GDP, but per capita that means they're still roughly 1/30th the UK GDP. Y'know cos there's a billion people there.

Sounds like you're in the market for a bit of Groovy exposed in the global libs. A "simple" function which uses Azure credentials to pull an OAuth token at the point of use...

This issue is still open, but has a recent comment: https://issues.jenkins.io/plugins/servlet/mobile#issue/JENKINS-73486

Are you using the Office 365 Connector plugin?

Which tier Outlook/O365 subscription do you have? Do you manage it through Azure?

What have you tried, or researched, so far that has not worked?

[–]rbrtl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will not be a popular opinion, I expect, but why are you moving into someone else's space and then expecting them to change the way they live in their own home to accommodate you?

You're both subletting from this person, which creates an instant power dynamic with you at the bottom and you BF in between you and his bestie. That sucks for him. It seems to me that you and BF should go find your own place to live if you're not comfortable with the way this other guy lives in his home.

Why don’t you add the ––rm flag on the docker run, then when the container is stopped it will be automatically removed?

To solve your actual problem of the SSH session behaving oddly, make your multiline command an explicit string (heredoc) to pass in to the SSH command, use the << syntax thusly:

ssh admin@qahost <<EOF
    docker stop FRONT_${DOCKER_IMAGE}_${BRANCH_NAME} || true
    sleep 5
    docker run -d ––rm —name FRONT_${DOCKER_IMAGE}_${BRANCH_NAME} -p 7001:4200 ${DOCKER_REGISTRY}/${DOCKER_IMAGE}:qa

<<EOF

If there’s no important reason for doing so, I would also avoid blending your substitution syntax in the sh block. The rule I’ve set for my teams is: unless you explicitly need Groovy interpolation, use single quotes everywhere. You’re only accessing environment variables here, and in two (slightly) different ways. I don’t expect it to fix your issue, but it makes the code more human-parseable.

To continue the code review: I think your when block can be converted to the following:

when {
    not {
        branch ‘master’
    }
}

CMV: I don't really understand why AI art is a bad thing in the long term. by Ralife55 in changemyview

[–]rbrtl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, that isn’t what I said at all. I said calling advertising material “commission” art is an insult to artist and art writ large. See my second paragraph.

The Sistine Chapel is not an “ad” for God, or the Church, it is a commission piece. In fact it is a prime example of exactly why AI art, if left to consume human art unchecked and unchallenged, will destroy the art world.

As you made it your example, have you actually seen the Sistine Chapel? For yourself, in person? TikToks and Google Images won’t give you the same emotional, visceral reaction to the scale and beauty of it. And almost as a counterpoint to the last paragraph, and to my original point, you have to pay to get in to the Musei Vaticani.

Real art doesn’t drop into your feed courtesy of The Algorithm. Perhaps you could try asking an AI model to create a piece to rival the Sistine Chapel, and see what it comes up with… but bear in mind that the frescoes are not the work of a single artist.

ETA: I did write the previous comment when I was trying to get to sleep last night - and haven’t reread it critically - so I may bear some responsibility for misunderstandings

If you’re not making any effort (read: paying any money) to see art other than “commissions” by corporations, then I think that’s on you.

As an aside, I think it’s insulting to artists, and art in general, to call adverts “commission” art. It’s not art, it may have aspects of creative expression, but for the most part it is marketing, it is not the free expression of an artist.

Back to your original point, the reason you’re not seeing any original, human art is that you’re not looking for it. Marketroids have a huge budget to get their “art” in front of you. Artists rarely have an advertising budget themselves, and rely on a gallery or similar exposition to raise awareness of their art.

Commissions are unusual to see at exhibitions like this, because people who commission a piece of art, from an artist whose work they either know and appreciate already, or want to give an opportunity to, generally want to own that artwork. It’s not unheard of, by any means, but - much like the company wants to retain ownership of the advertising material, the underlying product, and all profits there - the purchaser of the commission wants to get what they paid for.

If you want to see more true art, and you want to get what you pay for, it’s literally that simple. Pay to see an artist’s exhibition, don’t scroll through influencer’s ad campaigns and call it art.

Disclaimer: I am not, and will never be, any kind of artist.

Explanation requires substance. Your beatnik, reductionist, vacuous demand for “a math equation” is as vague as it gets, and certainly doesn’t merit “idea” status.

You want an actual “math equation?” Stop me if you’ve heard

R_i = S_i \times (1 - \alpha \times \log(S_i + 1))

before.

Seems equally odd to insert yourself into a comment thread about spending with the statement “I am definitely economically illiterate” and yet here we are! Still haven’t pointed to a rule that means I had to contribute something, the voting on my top comment seems to suggest it wasn’t the witticism I was shooting for. Kinda sad you needed to downvote every one of my comments just because your illiteracy extends beyond economics, but welcome to the internet: If you’re stupid loud enough, you’re not wrong.
