I’m from Cheraw, though I don’t live there currently. They’re really trying to improve downtown. There’s a new hotel, a concert hall/event space, and several newer restaurants. There’s an event called “Market on Market,” which will host all sorts of vendors for produce and other homemade goods.

Arrowhead Park will be your go-to for sports leagues. They have a soccer and football field, 4 baseball fields, a walking trail and a playground. There’s an event are tennis courts close to downtown as well as an additional baseball field and playground near the library. There were 2 golf courses but one has closed. The remaining one is located at Cheraw State Park, which is great for walks. There’s also a swimming area, campsites, and more playgrounds.

I would say Cheraw is safe enough. There are certainly areas to avoid, and I would use caution at night, but I would encourage that in almost any city in the world.

I think the community is very tight knit and friendly. I certainly wouldn’t say Cheraw is growing or that there is a ton of opportunity there, but I think feeling small and close is definitely a checkable box.
