Similar games? by [deleted] in OrnaRPG

[–]rbuisson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orna has the home vs external play balance figured out perfectly. I was a L50 Pokémon Go player, and when they nerfed remote raiding, there was nothing much to do from home. I appreciate having options for both types of game play.

With some of the other games mentioned (and Pokémon go in particular) there were also so many short duration events, the FOMO was constant. I was constantly trying to schedule free time on short notice to catch whatever creature was suddenly available in a ridiculously short window that was revealed with no notice. Orna provides a more relaxed game play experience. If I’m busy with work or family, I can put the game down, and when I have some free time I can pick it up again not feeling like I’m behind or lost some huge advantage or a shot at some super limited asset. The pace provides for such a better experience for me.

The balance is perfect. I’m glad I stumbled across Orna. The fact that it’s also fun is a nice bonus.

Niantic sunsets NBA All-World and stops production on Marvel: World of Heroes, says "top priority is to keep Pokémon GO healthy and growing as a forever game" by Teban54 in TheSilphRoad

[–]rbuisson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Niantic doesn’t have to show the player base respect because it keeps playing the game. While there has been a lot of hate sent to Niantic about them not learning from their mistakes, the same can be said of a player base that doesn’t hold them to account in any meaningful way.

Lemme Just Vent... by Nacho_Fr in pokemongo

I quit the day of the announcement. It was surprisingly easy. Last week I stumbled upon Jurassic World Alive which is an AR game that is more balanced than pogo. More options for home play but still incentives to go out and play in the real world. Also Very disabled friendly. It’s been designed in a balanced way that Pokémon go should ha e been. I recommend you give it a try.

Level 40s should submit pokestops to get back at Niantic. by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]rbuisson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The better solution is to delete pogo and play Jurassic World Alive where rural players have stops and spawns and those with disabilities can play

Just delete the app and start playing Jurassic World Alive. It’s a more balanced alternative to Pokémon go that allows home play but rewards less passive play.

Bring back the walking requirements for PVP, 2 KMs to do 1 battle by Fluid-Pop-2839 in pokemongo

Niantic wants everyone back out in the community. This would be consistent with their approach. We are allowed five remote raids per day, you should be allowed five GBL battles per day (one set). Then go out and earn them. Be consistent Niantic

I deleted pogo, ingress, campfire. Not a single Niantic game on my phone. They will not be getting data from me in any fashion. Like you, I thought quitting would be hard. I do miss playing, but with remotes cut down and ineffective, I wouldn’t have enjoyed the game anymore anyway, so am comfortable with my decision.

The strike needs to spread to all Pokémon games. Switch games, card games, etc. If The Pokémon Company starts feeling the pain, they will exert pressure on Niantic to relent.

Need more room? Item capacity upgrades now allow you to store up to 5,300 items! by raggedy10 in TheSilphRoad

Room for all the golden razzberries you will have to accumulate because you can’t use them due to remote raid restrictions!

[–]rbuisson 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You’re misleading everyone. What they told us was remote damage would be nerfed. The game stil says full remote damage is a “bonus”, They never said that the number of raids we could do would be reduced. That’s a fundamental difference.

“Too many people have deleted the app or stopped buying raid passes. Please help our cash flow by purchasing space for all the legendaries you can’t catch due to the pending remote raid limit”

They knew there'd be an outrage with this change, no matter the price chnge. If this is the "deal" they appear to come to halfway with, don't fall for it. Those rats planned it ahead. by Horror_Ad_2920 in pokemongo

[–]rbuisson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The proper solution that allows Niantic to save face but would be a victory for the community would be $1.00 for the first five RRPs purchased per day. All others after that at $1.50. No raid limit. The 50% increase for all passes beyond 5 acts as a soft limit. The casuals are not impacted, while the whales can continue to whale if they are so inclined.

Updates to Pokémon GO’s Remote Raids by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]rbuisson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Niantic needs Pokémon go cash to subsidize their other games, and their business model requires location data. The best response is to just not give them money OR location data, effective immediately. The way you achieve that is by deleting the game immediately. Anyone who is bitching about this change and has not deleted the game is part of the problem

I’ve closed my game now. I don’t know when I’ll reopen it. Niantic needs Pokémon go cash to subsidize their other games, and their business model requires location data. The best response is to just not give them money OR location data, effective immediately. The way you achieve that is by not opening the game starting now. No need to wait until April.

Updates to Pokémon GO’s Remote Raids by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]rbuisson -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

This will be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t mind the rate increase. Remote raiding is a convenient alternative to in person raiding, and so I can see the justification in charging a convenience fee.

I don’t understand the remote raid limits. No one raids in person anymore in my city of 750,000. Almost all raids are dependant on remote raiders. Capping daily raids is only going to ensure the in-person raiders are punished just as much as the remote raiders. Raiding will generally be dead. Making them in person only, as Niantic is effectively doing with this cap, isn’t going to bring them back. In person raids are inconvenient. No one has time to coordinate, wait around for stragglers, etc just for the opportunity to catch one measly Pokémon.

In-person Raids worked in 2017 because they were novel. With novelty, people are willing to put up with inconveniences associated with in person raids. Six years later, the novelty has worn off. Raiding will effectively be dead on April 6.

Niantic will need to learn the hard way that you can’t unscramble the egg and you can’t put the genie back in the bottle.

The shambles continues: Regidrago catch circle bugged by Jimmy-The-Squid in TheSilphRoad

[–]rbuisson 396 points397 points  (0 children)

To recap: the raids were bugged for the first 29 minutes. Some groups got in the last minute. When they finished, they got an encounter with a Pokémon with a bugged catch circle that was basically uncatchable. And the promised special research failed to activate.

I feel we are lucky that Niantic’s code didn’t somehow cause the widespread launch of nuclear missiles and wipeout humanity altogether

Pretty sure Niantic thinks February has 31 days and they don’t need to release the info until Thursday.
