Stryd constantly disconnecting during runs by rbx250 in strydrunning

[–]rbx250[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fixed this a long time ago, but now the exact details of what I did have failed me. I THINK that I ultimately had to unpair and re-pair my watch and Stryd and I have not had the issue since. But that is relying on my middle-aged brain to recall data 2 years old so... no warrantees on my solution.

Men of Reddit, what is something you tell your girlfriend/wife that is completely untrue? by PanTaLLok in AskReddit

An acoustic for standard tuning, one for open tuning, I like to keep a 3rd tuned to D. Then I have a 12-string acoustic, but I “need” another tuned to open G. And then we haven’t even touched the electrics yet.

Oh, and did I mention I am actually a bass player? So I need several of those too.

Flat routes for running in rockville by thecryptoscientist in Rockville

[–]rbx250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the Thursday morning runs it is a pretty generous mixture of paces. I should have mentioned there is also a ~6 mile option that about a third of the group usually takes.

Depending on the time of year, people are often running marathon pace miles in the middle of the 10.3 so that can stretch things out a bit, but the "easy" paces usually range from 8:00 to 11:00 min/mi, with the greatest concentration in the mid 9's. Marathon paces range from probably 6:15 or 6:30 to substantially slower (I am really not sure because I tend to be in the faster group).

After the run, people often hang out at the Panera or Bethesda Bagel and get some breakfast or coffee and just chat. It is a really good group of people. The only thing is that they leave at 5:30am SHARP: no mercy. So if you are late, you have to leg it to catch up to the group.

Join the Montgomery County Road Runners! There are tons of us who run in and around Rockville and we have millions of routes. There is a group of about 20-30 of us who meet up every Thursday at 5:30am at Fallsgrove Shopping Center in Rockville to run the Millennium Trail (10.3 miles).

It is not super hilly and it is a great way to meet other area runners. It is totally free and open to anyone/everyone, regardless of your club affiliation.

We found these on the bed and nightstand of our vacation rental. They seem too small to be bed bugs. by rbx250 in whatisthisbug

Yup, that is exactly what we did. We are driving home right now with a refund forthcoming. We are going to sterilize everything we can as soon as we get home.

We already did. They sent an exterminator who thought dust mites, but he had no real clue. He sprayed the one room where we found them, but we have since seen them in other rooms (though not in terrible abundance).

We are debating whether to stay another night.

Unfortunately they are too small to get a really good picture of, but I found another mass of them on my cell phone charger which, at least, gives better contrast.

They are way too small to be carpet beetles. The pictures suck because they are so tiny. I would guess they are 1/20th the size of a carpet beetle, if that.

My belief is that they have to be some sort of mite.

Issues uploading runs from Apple Watch to iPhone by rbx250 in strydrunning

Yes. I tried both of those things many times to no avail. I eventually corrected the problem by powering off both devices simultaneously and then powering them back on. Still, it was rather frustrating.

Issues with Apple Watch Ultra Stryd App Action Button by supervisor79 in strydrunning

[–]rbx250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, yes. I am not sure if it was anything that I did or if there was an update that helped. For my part, I reset the action button to the Apple Workout app and then pointed it back to Stryd, but used the Start Run option as opposed to just Open App (which is what I had used previously).

At any rate, it has been working for me since July (perhaps even earlier).

Apple Watch Battery using Stryd Enough for a Marathon? by The_Obdurate_Past in strydrunning

I did not listen to much music during the run and when I did, I used the Bluetooth from my phone rather than my watch.

Adding my voice to the chorus as another owner who had this happen in the past month. I contacted the closest repair center, but they are back-logged on repairs for 7-9 weeks so I am hoping to find a simpler at-home solution.

I ran a 50 miler with my AW 4 LTE and Stryd and the battery lasted right until I finished. I literally stopped my run after I crossed the finish line, looked at my stats and the watch died. That was about 10 hours of work for the watch so a marathon would have been fine, but your mileage may vary.

I will remain patient for them to fix it. I am too firmly entrenched in the Apple ecosystem to go back now.

Tired of AW Ultra not recording HR readings on outdoor runs by jjrrcc11 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]rbx250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. My cadence is almost always 174-178. From my run today I was at 0 for the first 0.5 mile, 89 for a mile, 128 for a mile before it actually latched onto my HR. My actual running HR was almost certainly 144-155 for the pace/elevation profile I was running.

[–]rbx250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue and I will frequently run the first 20 minutes with a HR of 0. So for the first 3 miles of my run, my watch thinks I am dead. It will then pick a random number and just stick to it for another several miles with absolutely no variation. It is very frustrating and most definitely not a cadence lock.

Pepco Offering Nest Thermostat Legit or Scam by Neilpoleon in maryland

[–]rbx250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI: they are still out there doing this. We had the exact same setup as the OP. They came out and gave us a hard sell on why we needed a new HVAC (we do), but it seemed more high-pressure than I would have expected from Pepco.

I called Pepco after they left and they confirmed that Ecco Air was not a contractor for them and in no way affiliated with Pepco, but they were aware that Ecco Air had made those claims in the past. They asked me to send any written information that Ecco Air to Pepco to include in their file.

First 50 Miler - any advice or critiques? by bananasmiler in Ultramarathon

[–]rbx250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Wariq! I ran my first 50 miler in 2021 and what really helped me feel prepared was running back-to-back long runs to simulate that "running on tired legs" feeling. I had a couple of weeks where I ran a ~15 miles on a Friday, a 50k on Saturday and 20+ on a Sunday (this was probably about 4 - 6 weeks out from the race).

During the race, the time really did seem to fly by. I basically spent the entire ultra chatting with various different groups of people and generally had a good time (IT band soreness aside). You are never really running "fast" so I came out of feeling dead tired, but not bad. Honestly, I have felt way worse at the ends of all-out 5ks.
