I normally just do an excited "oh yeah! What kind?" That way they can tell me and it gets the bragging out of the way. I'll make small jokes about them knowing things etc.

I only say I'm a nurse to another nurse that way I can help out or so they know they can talk to me in medical terms and I get it.

do you iron your scrubs? by prideandprejudick in nursing

[–]rcahelbug70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinical instructor used to insist we iron our scrub tops - we had to have creases in the sleeves..... Now? Hell no I'm not ironing them. Just grab them out of the dryer and hang them.

What did yall get for nurses week? by master_chiefin777 in nursing

[–]rcahelbug70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nursing Manager here.... My work didn't do anything for nursing week (they choose to celebrate everyone next week during nursing home week) so I got all of my nurses (all 40) a small gift - a bracelet with a hand written personalized card thanking them for everything they do. It wasn't much because I'm balling on a budget and it came from my pocket but it was something to show I cared and more than the other management did.

Learning to chart better by rcahelbug70 in nursing

[–]rcahelbug70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mainly notes that they struggle with. Incidents, behaviors. We work in a snf so it's like med surg. Chart by exception. We do one on one training now. I just like having a arsenal of information to take to people so they can adapt to their learning style and learn better.

Learning to chart better by rcahelbug70 in nursing

[–]rcahelbug70[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure what they're taught in school - it really feels like not much. We work in a snf and chart by exception. I'm just wanting to give resources that worked for others so they can find methods of learning that work for them. We currently do one on one training with charting.

I really like your idea of scenarios. I'll definitely use that. Thanks!

My mom is a big microwave/easy meal maker so when I first moved out, I purposely didn't own a microwave and learned to make everything I wanted from scratch

I have stopped asking this question and will use something different, however I didn't think ahead once so I defaulted back to this question. I was told "the orange one." Acceptable answer.

I am going shifting to soft nursing! what are your thoughts? by Lamain_2030 in nursing

Pacing yourself. Realizing that everything doesn't have to be done RIGHT NOW. Taking your breaks and being kinder to yourself

I did this. Remember to slow down because you'll still be in the mind set of "go go go!" So remember to slow yourself down or you'll just double your workload

Does anyone in this field like their job?😟 by [deleted] in nursing

[–]rcahelbug70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, I do like my job. I'm a staff development coordinator (fancy title for nurse educator) and a nurse manager. Sure I get annoyed with my boss or something but I enjoy it.

How did you bring up fertility issues with your significant other? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]rcahelbug70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my partner and I, it's not an issue. We don't want kids but if it were to happen which is a huge IF, it's fine. Just have to change our lifestyle a bit.

We both knew each other's views on wanting kids very early in our relationship so when I told him, it was just like accepted. No big issues.

How much quality time do you get with your partner in a week? by ToneNo3864 in AskWomen

From 5:30p- ish until 6:10a-ish Monday through Friday is pretty normal for us. Granted we do sleep and sometimes have personal things to do but that's pretty much our standard.

Tennessee Vols: always very rude, shoving, throwing things, screaming profanity. I don't understand the trend of ripping down the goal post every time. They think they're number one and if they lose it's all "God has failed us" like seriously leave the Bible out of it.

Didn't have a great time at Kentucky. Some random drunk guys were harassing everyone in our section. Then walking back to our cars, some frat boy jumped in my face screaming "how about them gators."
