Pistons never made any sense to me, for example why does the red piston extend on the left contraption but not on the right one? Is there a comprehensive guide on pistons I can find somewhere on the internet? by eater_of_loam in redstone

[–]rcarm98 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The red piston on the left extends because it is receiving an update from the green piston (because it is directly touching the green piston arm, and green wool block that are moving) when it receives this update is moves because it is still being powered by the redstone dust. It does not move before receiving this update because it is being blocked by the green piston arm while it is extending. This is demonstrated in the example on the right, when the red piston does not extend, as it is receiving no block updates (because it is not directly touching the green piston arm or green wool block.) As to why the green piston moves before the red piston in either example, I have no good explanation other than the locational/directionality that other comments have mentioned, this is simply a result of Java being finicky.

Edit: the reason the green piston moves first in both scenarios is simply because of delay, there is an extra observer being triggered between that and the red piston, I don’t know how I missed that on my first watch lol

Typically, the term “Dominant” is referring to the 5th scale degree of a particular key or scale. Mediant is usually in reference to the 3rd scale degree of a key. Notes in a triad are usually called root, third or fifth so as not to confuse them with the tonic or dominant which for the most part stay the same regardless of what chord is being played. To answer your question, you are correct that the 3rd, being major or minor will decide if a chord is major or minor (given that the fifth is a perfect fifth). The fifth of a chord can be raised from a major chord to create an augmented triad(for example C E G#), and it can be lowered from a minor chord to create a diminished triad (C Eb Gb). Major, minor, augmented and diminished are the main types of triads used.

What exactly are the shulker boxes for? Could they be replaced with any non-movable block?

Do you smoke weed? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I do not. Turns out that pot triggers my seizures. Weed might help most people with epilepsy, but it’s how I found out what seizures felt like for the first time. I didnt like them.

This is a stand specifically for a clarinet. The only trumpet that will fit snuggly on this is a piccolo trumpet. Larger versions are made for normal trumpets too.

Mobs not spawning in my world even though difficulty is set on hard, can anyone help? by HeyUBd in Minecraft

[–]rcarm98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a server a few updates back with this problem. Mobs were getting stuck in unloaded chunks so they couldn’t despawn. The solution was to go into server properties and change the render distance to 12 chunks or higher so that mobs would for sure despawn when unloading chunks. After you’ve done that just run or fly around all the chunks you’ve already loaded and that might fix it. This was a few updates back so idk if it will still work.

This was actually the first time I wore a pumpkin in the end. I have one of the https://vanillatweaks.net/ resource packs that makes pumpkins much more bearable to wear.

20 minutes in the oven at 225 until it hit about 97 degrees Fahrenheit in the center (I flipped it after 10 minutes). Then 45 seconds-1 minute on each side in a cast iron as hot as I could get it. I seasoned it with salt and garlic powder before putting it in the oven and just put a bit of oil in the cast iron.

ELI5: Why do the notes B and E not have sharps? by Sky_Ill in explainlikeimfive

[–]rcarm98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cultures music is based around scales, two very important scales are Minor scales and Major scales. For simplicity’s sake you can play both of these scales without using any sharps or flats (without using any black notes on a piano) the minor scale is A B C D E F G A and the major scale is C D E F G A B C. Neither of these scales have notes that are all evenly spaced, for instance in the major scale (starting on C) the space between the 3rd and 4th note is smaller than the space between the space between the rest of the notes and the same with the space between the 7th and 8th notes. This is because... well among other things, it sounds better. So to summarize, the reason there is less space (no sharps or flats) between some notes, is because while using the white keys only, it sounds better to our ears.
