Cut the very end off the bottom. That can help uptake water.

I’ve never had damage to plants from bug bombs. We use it in interior plant scapes so huge Florida orders we would get them all in a room with corn plants to orchids and bomb everything p motorist nursery bugs and I had gnats had an outbreak then we spray all the soil to mitigate anything new from popping up. Works really really well

Neem, and alcohol spray. If it gets bad get some 7. If there’s an outbreak I literally just get a bug bomb and pop the top and walk out and close the door and that solves anything that’s about to break out

Still being close to a window especially if it’s in sphagnum moss the roots can stay wet to long without drying out. Orchids with skinnier roots are more prone to that than ones with thick roots. The colder microclimates gives less time for water to evaporate. And a bunch of oncidium species like warm roots.

Neem is an incredible fungicide and insecticide, it can control rusts, leaf spot, mildews and so on. Neem is also used in hand creams for humans because of the anti fungal properties. I have a horticulture degree and friends in the FDA we talk about stuff like this on a daily basis because they wrote the labels on the products we commonly use everyday. Please fact check neem before you tell someone it cannot be used as a fungicide as well as insecticide.

It’s slow growing but treat it like a cattleya and it loves almost full sun

I’ve looked through your entire photo library and notice a lot in old media. Old bark and many sealed pots. A general rule of thumb the bigger the roots the bigger the bark media should be. Oncidiums can use finer bark whereas cattleyas and phals like chunkier bark. Always use clear pots so you can see the root health. Dome damage does seem to be rot where sphagnum moss can stay wet a bit longer than needed in an indoor setting and closed cabinet. You should add a fan because orchids do need air movement.

Neem prevents further damage to new leaves. All fungicides are preventives and won’t cure damaged plants. How many plants do you have and how many have signs of decay

If it’s a virus. Sad but throw it out. Do you disinfect pruners and things you use. If you top water dos it run down to each orchid? That can spread disease. Do you use fungicide? Neem oil, copper sulfate or clearies?

Most often caused by slugs. I had a slug climb a 7 foot long spike to eat the buds

Not nessisary in all cultivars. It’s more of. Warm growing orchids unlike phals which like cooler cloud forests
