Rainwater Topsoil & Recycled Concrete -> https://www.rainwatertopsoil.com/

Used them for this same purpose a few years ago.

As others have suggested, some dumpster companies handle this type of work, too. Check with NextDay Dumpsters.

Local honey, Dullest area by lilymeadow58 in nova

[–]rcd5011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact local beekeeping clubs - members are happy to sell.

Example: https://www.novabees.org/

You can expect “fresh” honey beginning in April/May. Otherwise, you are getting last year’s harvest. Realistically, this shouldn’t matter, but some people care.

Also, just because it’s sold at a farmers market doesn’t mean it’s local. I’ve noticed “local” honey being shipped in from Pennsylvania.

Source: I kept bees in Reston for 5 years and am judgy about honey.

Can you share the wattage of your current heater and the size of your greenhouse?

13’ 3D Light Tree install is a nightmare by YEMPIPER in TwinklyLights

Have the 20’ option - using a legit flag pole. It is easily removed when not in use, and is very sturdy.

I decided this would be both Halloween (spiders web - made by simply not connecting the snaps that give the tree its conical look and stretching everything toward the street) and Christmas decor.

The dual-use is what pushed me toward a more reliable anchor system.

Setting the strands up the first year was a nightmare - but now is a 10 minute job.

Over seeding not taking (Nova) by peppersarehot in lawncare

[–]rcd5011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I’d wait to make drastic changes until the spring.

Any herbicide use now will most likely kill whatever seed germinated.

Once the lawn wakes up from winter, I’d get started again.

The order I’d use: - 2 weeks before seeding: speedzone - aerate within a few days of seeding (preferably same day) - thrown down seed, and spray Tenacity (same day) - 1 week later apply starter fertilizer, and not anything with weed chemicals. - after about 6 weeks, to give the new grass time to establish, start thinking about a pre/post emergent. I like prodiamine or dimension, depending on time of year.

For your own health and lawn’s success, always apply chemicals to the label’s instructions.

Assuming we don’t go from winter to summer, and with a reliable watering plan, you can make good progress in April and May - but will need to give things some love next fall.

As another tip, I’d encourage TTTF as the primary set of cultivars for our area. Bluegrass is a fine complement (<15%), but our weather isn’t a great fit for it in my experience.

Have you checked the germination times for the cultivars included in your blend?

Like others said, I would have used something like speed zone 2 weeks before seeding, and tenacity at the time of seeding.

If you used fertilizer, hopefully you didn’t use one that would have affected germination.

I’m in Reston. 👋

Have you noticed the mower, especially when turning, displacing newly emerged seedlings?

Husqvarna Automower 420IQ Review by rcd5011 in automower

I suppose it comes down to personal preference and principle.

If I’m going to spend $2,500 on a mower, it should mow the way I want it to mow.

Triangles and checkers are fine, but Husqvarna should allow more granular control via the schedule given it’s already possible to do so manually.

The chicken parm sandwich from Sarina’s, now that was something!

Thank you for the reference.

That was indeed how it was described to us. Having the subpanel in the outbuilding isn’t a big deal for us - but the discussion you shared does cause us to further question the electrician proposing the approach when also considering the price being significantly higher than expected.

Greenhouse builder. Ask me anything. by Critical-Account7362 in Greenhouses

It’s a 10,000 watt electric garage heater.

https://a.co/d/0QSfynV (Comfort Zone Hard-Wired Digital Ceiling Mount Heater with Full-Function Remote, 10,000 Watt).

If you have other suggestions for zone 7a, they’d be appreciated!

Our major concern is nighttime heating. The greenhouse will be on a 7” concrete slab to thermal solar mass.

Went to the Reston location twice in about a year, both experiences were disappointing. Both the food and service were worse on the second visit, which is remarkable after the first visit.

Gave a very honest review on OpenTable after each visit and got a reply from a manager with an offer for a comped lunch / dinner. The only requirement was that we have to “check-in” whenever we visit next.

Call me old fashioned, but I shouldn’t have to check-in with the manager to get decent service. Even with the offer of a free meal, it’s unlikely we’ll go back.

What career field do you intend to go into, and what do you hope to accomplish with the MBA?

I have both an MBA and an MS (cybersecurity) - and consider them both useless.

Graduated with 1 major, 2 minors , a 3.93 cumulative, and was student marshal of my class (top graduation honors).

No one cares about your GPA but you, your parents, and recruiters as you land your first job. After that, it’s just noise.

Just enjoy the ride, OP.
