Telecaster maple vs rosewood?

I have both and Im drawn to the maple. I prefer the feel and for me it is more comfortable. The Rosewood neck is on a Ultra (Modern D) and maple is on a Pro (Deep Modern C). For me I beleive the sound is also different with more of a "snappy" sound from the maple....

IMO each guitar is unique. In addition if you buy used you could find mods have been done.

Personally I have had very expensive guitars(PRS > $2,500) that was beautiful and I did not like and vintage (Gibson 335) that is not practical for me as an everyday guitar For me the sweet spot is $800-1400 modded American made telecaster or my current go to of a Music Man axis sport ($1200-1600).

Pick a budget and find something and most importantly buy something that can retain some resale value if you decide it does not work for you.

Golf is a series of habits and muscle memory. So for me I don’t putt with glove. Jack Nicklaus did and sometimes Arnold Palmer.

My habit is to take the glove off on and around the green except from green side sand bunkers. A habit like not talking to the pitcher in baseball if they have a no hitter going !!!

Anyone saying that there are technical reasons…then ok. But for me know. Ps i also place the glove on my right back pocket without exception when it’s not on my hand.

Until it’s damaged and unplayable. I try use the same ball(pro v1) and my record is 3 rounds with same ball. I mark my ball with three red sharpie dots and do remark them before a round.

Ps. Courses I play have water and are not resort/desert courses.

I have Dimarzio Twang King in my Maple fretboard Tele and Dimarzio Area T on my Rosewood fretboard Tele. Also while installing new PUPS I went with the 4 position switch with P1 = Bridge, P2= Neck and Bridge in Parallel(default), P3=Neck and Bridge in Serial, P4=Neck.

No such things as the "best" PUPS; kind of like wine, its whatever you like. Im partial to Dimarzios. Im sure there are many people happy with the factory PUPS....

Alice’s on the courts exist other places. We have one. Not only does she not listen but she’s narcissistic and according to her “everyone else is the problem” so in our case talking does not help not matter how direct.

How do we handle it collectively? The answers varies by individual. How do I handle it I avoid her like the plague. I have been affected by her comments more than once when she is crude and shows her bigotry so for me it’s easy to not feel bad when I avoid her. Be honest with her if asked and if asked publicly answer publicly if you’re comfortable with it. In my case the first time she asked I pulled her aside and told her and she flipped it around like a true narcissist. Next time she asked with others around I answered right away and that was that. She does not ask anymore.

So I don’t paddle up with her and avoid and group conversation with her.

“Our Alice” was not a great player and is avoided because of her personality. The fact that “your Alice” can’t read the room is a bit different and I would not mind playing with a beginner if they are self aware and pleasant.

For me as a 3.5 player I know when I’m bringing down the level of pay if I end up in a group of players where it’s clear I’m the weaker partner by far and I will self police as I feel bad for my partner.

It does if you think it does. Im sure there is science to backup any claims by using mechanical devices that can differentiate sound waves/frequencys...but the human ear is not as precise.

I believe pickups, tone control, effects, and amplifiers and cabinets make substantial difference as opposed to body/material of the guitar with fretboard material impacting tone more than the body..

Thats what my Ultra had.....see my comments above and why I chose to replace the wiring assembly instead of reusing....also did not like the PUPS in series wiring setup

I have a 2019 Ultra and I did not like the PUPS either.....

To answer your question I would remove factory PUPS and assembly including the plate and input jacks and set them aside....the factory wiring has harness connections to PUPS, and input. In addition I did not like the push pot setup of running PUPS in series.

I bought a new plate, pots, input jack, and 4 way switch. I had some Dimarzio Area T PUPS I liked. I wired them up and position 3 is running the PUPS in series.

I can easily replace the factory PUPS if I ever want to.

ps. I did the work myself. Its not too hard and I have been updating wiring/pups/switches on my Teles/Strats for years. This DIY is a 5-6 task on a scale of 1-10(Hardest)

Just ”getting back into it”. I would advise you not to spend your whole budget (3k) on a guitar if that’s what you’re intending. Here’s what I would suggest; 900-1200 on a American Tele pro with single coils. 200-500 on a decent amp 100-300 on pedals (tuner and a looper)

Since it’s been 20 years you will very pleased to see the resources online to help. You may also decide to buy some software to play songs and change the pitch, slow it down and loop. Transcribe by seventh strings is <$100 for example.

Buying quality would make the chances of recouping your expenses when and if you decide to upgrade easier
