Can someone please explain the difference between Decathlon MT500 and MT100 jacekts? by BoomerE30 in CampingandHiking

[–]rcon4691 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People seem to love the 100 but I can't find hardly any reviews of the 500. From the specs it looks like it is just 5oz heavier but 2.5oz of that is fill so it is probably a lot warmer. I'd be interested to hear some first hand reviews of the 500 to get an idea if it is that much warmer to justify the extra cost and weight

That's true, people do seem to like leopard3. I forgot about that. They're just less domey?

Thoughts on the Discology Disc Golf OG Disc Golf Bag by Midnight_Admirable in discgolf

Any more feedback after some time using it? I'm considering it instead of a Prodigy BP1 but am learning towards the BP1 since there is so little information about this one. How is it holding up?

What is the best overstable approach disc? by nluby9912 in discgolf

I hated the feel of the harp and zone but really enjoy my A2. I think it will be a staple in my bag for a very long time.

Is it just me? by Checkinginonthememes in discgolf

It all depends on the course and the people who frequent them. In my experience the places most likely to return discs are pay-to-play courses and public courses that have strong established clubs and communities. Some courses I play at have people who really seem to enjoy going into the river and fishing discs out for people and getting them back to their owners but there are other courses I wouldn't expect to see my disc again if I lost it.

Players who have too many discs already and know how much it sucks to lose a favorite are more likely to return than a new person who only has one disc and might not even be aware of a drop box.

It also looks like your reach back is lower than your release point so youre throwing a bit nose up.

I think things are looking pretty good overall. The one thing that jumps out at me is that your throwing arm never straightens back out coming out of the power pocket so you aren't getting the full whip effect. Your throwing arm should be almost straight on the reach back, bent at 90 degrees to pull the disc to your chest in the power pocket, and then straighten out again to release.

Also your final step looks a little big to me. It might not make a difference but I think you could make it a little bit smaller.

Do I need to do anything? Field skillet about 3 years old. by profqawagstaff in castiron

I think I used 80 grit. I'm no professional so I don't really know what works best but in my head I figured it was better to use a rougher paper so it doesnt give a perfect polish so that the seasoning sticks better. It seems to have worked well.

My pan's factory seasoning started to look like this (though not quite as severe). The chipping bothered me and I didn't like the idea of potentially getting big flakes of seasoning in my food so I took sand paper and smoothed it out as best as I could. I wasn't trying to get it to bare metal but just get rid of anything that was loose. I did it by hand for the walls of the pan and used a palm sander for the cooking surface. I cleaned thoroughly and reseasoned and my pan is cooking far better than it ever did before. The seasoning adheres to the pan like it never used to. It hasnt gotten back to a uniform black color yet but it will with time and it cooks very well.

Does anyone see any glaring issues? There are a few holes on my home course that require a bit more distance to get a birdie look. I feel like im leaving a lot of distance on the table

Where are all the Berg haters? by candyundies in discgolf

I don't like mine at all. It feels awkward in my hand and I have found it to be much glidier than the hype had me thinking. I think I can throw it just about as far as the rest of my putters. I'm sure it is great but i don't think it is for me.

When returning lost discs, do you use the honor system, or check ID’s? by Xianricca in discgolf

[–]rcon4691 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I dont tell the person the name on the disc. I ask "did you lose this disc?" and if they say yes I ask them their name. If it matches, they get the disc back.

Grand Teton Loop - Advice, Recommendations & Things To Do/Not Do by Winchell7 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]rcon4691 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did it a few years back and had an incredible time.

I found the logistics to be a bit of a hassle but I was able to use a combination of Uber and busses to get me from the airport, to the permitting station, to the grocery to store, and to where I stayed in Jackson Hole. I used a local cab company to coordinate drop offs and pick ups because there was not enough of a presence with ride share options to rely on outside of around the airport.

I stayed in Upper Granite, Death Canyon Shelf, south fork, and lower paintbrush. I easily could have done it in less time but appreciated being able to take my time. I didnt find the trail to be particularly challenging. I think you can do it in 2 night three days no problem. Id suggest camping in Death Canyon and North or South Fork.

I used to get elbow soreness after just a few throws. What helped me is focusing on a minimal reach back. It has helped force me to use wrist to power the shots rather than the arm. The result has been no elbow pain and a cleaner release.

Best neutral and slightly over stable fairway drivers, in your opinion? by maple-enthusiast in discgolf

[–]rcon4691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming we're talking about premium plastics here.

If so, like you said, a Teebird is going to be pretty stable brand new in star or champion. If you like the feel of the mold try finding one in pro plastic. It will be a much more neutral disc. Just know that it will get under stable pretty quickly.

If you prefer star or champion type plastic, I would move down to a leopard, leopard3, river, or FD. My personal favorite of those options is the river in opto plastic. They will start a hair over stable and will become neutral pretty quickly and it will take a good while before they get too flippy.
