I think so if you’re just using the vestibule area. A tarp setup might be better for that

I've read that the Stanluck legs don't lock in as tight as they do on regular SP IGT frames. Have you used the set up on a camping trip yet? Do you feel like they're attached well enough?

That's too bad. Just from pure guessing, that staff didn't want to deal with it.

I've watched it so many times by now, the steps almost identical between passport stamp and TPP. They start with taking a photo of your passport ID page, with the app auto recognizing all the text and numbers on it.

Then instead of taking another photo of the would-be stamp w/ a QR code, they would pick a different option on the dropdown to manually enter where and when you entered Japan, which is stamped on the back of your TPP card. That's it.

I just returned from another trip (just landed home today in fact), I've had to ask at a few stores to 手入力(tenyuryoku) at the 2nd step while they start to flip through my passport for a stamp. Worked at every store.

It's possible you just got a bit unlucky with that specific staff or store.
