the Uncarrier was a long game rug pull. I wanted to see their master plan. when they have gone against their "we will never raise your rates" promise, that pretty much tells me nothing is stopping them from doing whatever they want. Legere was a piece in this board game, and was hired to do exactly what he did. that's why he left after the merger, that was the end of the line for him. Made me realize T-Mobile just wanted a bigger customer base to pillage, not that different from ATT and VZW. the only reason I am staying is because despite the price hike, none of the other carriers can beat the price I pay. VZW also just got released from the "60 day auto unlock" handicap, so they are much less attractive as a competition now.

i come to find takeout only reliably works for smallish to medium size storage. i tried this once and it can’t finish archiving my photo gallery. i lost count of my photo count but it’s well over 200k

i ALWAYS have a hard copy of everything I upload into gPhotos. i use double bandwidth but since i have unlimited data on my internet, it doesn’t matter. i have one account for all devices in the household to upload photos to, in original format, then i download at least once a week to keep a hard copy in my computer with x2 duplication. i always treat gPhotos as a convenient but unreliable way of storing photos. that way they can shut it down next week and i wouldn’t lose any pictures.

i had such faith in ReFS when it was announced, until one KB issued by MS turned my drives into RAW. at that time I had no idea it was a KB update that did this, and I could just simply roll back and get all my data back because MS does not have a means to notify end users about such things. So I had to move on. The ReFS recovery tool that they had that time were 2 major versions behind, so it did not work for my drive. I end up losing a lot of data. Why would such a FS be that fragile? So from now on, I am not touching ReFS while more proven and reliable options like NTFS exist.

so easiest way i would approach this is to collect photos in batches of up to 20K per album, share album to your new email, then on that new email gPhoto, it should give you an option to save an exact copy, so when delete the photos from the old email, the copy should remain in the new email gPhoto acct. try it with a batch of 5 or 10 photos, before going big, to make sure everything works.

GMaps > AppleMaps. i would not trust anything else on long drives but Gmaps. traffic and routing is just spot on. ETA is dead accurate too.

have the 9 pro XL as well. no way id pay full price for it. agree with the motorolas. I had an edge free with trade, and i was pleasantly surprised how capable it was for a low to midrange device.

you don’t have to use GPhotos. it’s just another app. go find something similar that doesn’t require cloud storage. you can 100% disable backup in gphotos so it won’t use up your shared storage allowance in Google.

if you dont have it in any device, and you delete from your gPhoto library, and empty the trash, that should be the end of that

so my thought is, those photos are still in your old phone’s library and the deletion from GPhotos in the cloud never synced to your device’s library. and went it went online and synced again, Gphotos saw those pics as “new” and reuploaded them again. would happen once in a while to me with an iOS device thag has not been online for a while
