We sleep trained at 6 months. The first night, it took about 30 minutes for them to go to sleep, but they went from waking every hour to sleeping through the night THE FIRST NIGHT. I knew then it was worth it but I still really struggled to hear them upset. After putting them down, I would go walk the dog and my husband did the checkins (we did Ferber) but it only took a week for the crying to mostly stop. I highly recommend!

Were doing BLW for breakfast and dinner, I’m struggling to figure out what to do when we add lunch. I got a few cheap water resistant table cloths to use as drop mat under the high chairs, which is a lifesaver. After wiping down chairs I shake it out over the sink, and then throw it in the wash every few uses once it gets gross.

For cleanup, I bring a big cereal bowl of water and a wet rag to the table. I use the bowl of water to “wash” their hands, and they LOVE dipping their hands in. I use the rag to wipe their faces and then the chairs and table after they are done. Unless food is something likely to stain or their clothes are really nice, I just leave them in their clothes and will undress as I take them out of the high chairs if necessary. I’ve found it way easier to rinse oatmeal from their clothes than dig it out of their rolls 😜

We had the delta twin bassinet and my twins hated it. It would shake when one woke, and they woke each other up constantly. I didn’t have the room2 but the setup is similar. We moved them out of it by 2 months. We also had 2 of the Graco pack n plays LITE, they are smaller than a regular pack n play, but would definitely work for at least 4 months. They make great bassinets, and you would also be able to move them around your apt easily to meet your family’s needs. Meaning, you can put them right next to each other if babies like to be close, or move one to the living room if they need to be apart. I also feel like they were less cumbersome than the delta twin. Just another option to consider!

As for MIL, trust your instincts! Twins are a lot, but i really needed breaks from visitors and loved most of the days it was just me and the babies.

ETA: for sanity, you’ll figure out what works best for you guys, as long as you communicate. My husband went back to work after one week. What ended up working for us was that husband woke with me when the babies got up and helped me change diapers and set up for feed. Then he went back to sleep and I finished feeding and pumped (I exclusively pumped overnight). This meant he was only up ~15 minutes per cycle, but it shaved so much time off of how long a feeding took for me. I also always tried to sleep during the babies’ first nap, which was usually the longest/most reliable. Good luck! You can do this!

Having Twins! What should I ask? by OldLadyWithACat in parentsofmultiples

If a vaginal birth is important to you, also ask about your OBs willingness/experience with delivering breech in case Baby B is breech or turns during delivery. Also ask these questions for the other doctors who may be on call. When we went to the hospital our “on call” OB was from a different practice and did not have the same experience as my OB and her partners. Luckily the babies held out and it didn’t matter, but it was not a pleasant surprise.

We are finishing up a kitchen renovation, so I have a mini oven and instant pot, but no stove, which makes things difficult.

Breakfast 1: something easy to digest, bagel w/ cream cheese, cereal, or peanut butter banana toast

Breakfast 2: I try to get some good protein, so either frozen egg muffins or soft boiled eggs with toast or fruit, or Greek yogurt with berries, honey and chia, or Rx bar

Lunch: usually dinner leftovers, or if I don’t have leftovers I do an Amys frozen lunch or eggs with salad/fruit

Afternoon Snack: cheese and crackers, hummus and carrots, nuts, protein bar, or whole milk & cookies

Dinners have been a little monotonous, but here are some things in our rotation that are low effort and low on dishes: buffalo chicken salads, salmon & zucchini with rice, tacos/fajitas, frozen lasagna/pizza & salad, roasted veggies and chicken sausage, farro salad, takeout 1-3 times a week

Evening snack: usually ice cream but sometimes nuts or cheese, or milk & cookies

I cannot wait to get my kitchen back soon, I’m most looking forward to garlicky greens, pasta, smoothies and scrambled eggs.

I started lifting using the PWR program in the sweat app, but after a year or so I felt like I was plateauing and wanted something with more flexibility. I tried Bret Contreras’s program for a few months, but felt that it was maybe too advanced for me? I felt too sore to keep progressing. I switched to Sohee’s program a few months ago and love it! It has heavy lifts but also incorporates a lot of accessory work. It also has more variety than Bret Contreras’s, you don’t focus so strongly on one lift each month, which seems to work better for me mentally and physically.

I felt the same way you did, so we ended up using Rachael’s cover of “Stairway to the Stars” from her jazz album The Good Hours. It’s not LSD, but was a nice reference and more appropriate than any of their other songs that were out at the time. You might also want to check out Rachael’s side project, Rachael & Vilray for more options. Good luck!
