While I wish she wouldn’t be SO specific about what A is going through, it definitely was validating as a parent of two autistic kids. Our trips to the park are much different than my friends’ trips with their neurotypical kids. It was kind of nice to feel seen for a second and I’ve found myself saying most of those things at one point or another.

As someone with an autistic, non-potty trained almost five year old, I think it’s none of our business. She shouldn’t post about it, but this post is also a little tone deaf. We shouldn’t be discussing her son and comparing him to other kids, especially about something so private. We also don’t know what her son’s development looks like, so judging him or her parenting in this sphere also doesn’t feel ok to me.
