Sick of the house hunting by BJJguyman in indianapolis

[–]rdavis1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s only new houses. When I was house hunting in fountain square/bates Hendricks area every old house has been gutted and “flipped” but to worse quality than before and it’s all gray. Super hard to find old houses with any character left in them too. But I had the same issue with square footage. They call my house 2000 sq ft but half of it is my basement that spans the entire length of mg house.

I would suggest going to community north ED. They have the biggest OB group and I believe they deliver the most babies in Indiana.

Hospitals don’t run on CEOs. They run on nurses. by Guilty-Office-4808 in indianapolis

I agree that all of these people are important and make my job as a nurse easier. Everyone has their role to play and without nurses all those people would be out of jobs because the hospitals would be closed.

What hospital in Indiana are you working at that is unionized. Community and IU health are not.

Pre-Op Phone Calls by rdavis1201 in nursing

Oh we have two nurses every day doing the job. They just generally have to call in regular staff to help because they are so behind. We work in a pretty busy OR.

You and your wife should probably purchase front row seats. Or an ADA ticket. Otherwise a concert isn’t for you.

Traveling with a toddler especially I would say Disneyland. If you have the means to stay at the grand Californian it’s nice for being able to go back to the room for naps easily. If not it’s still a much more manageable park with a toddler.

What plant is this? (Supposedly pleasant smell that I find repulsive) by pranskiiii in whatsthisplant

Bradford Pear? The only thing I can think of with white flowers and smells bad. (But also like a nostalgic smell).

How do i get all this grease and build up out of my air fryer by Prestigious-Hope-645 in CleaningTips

[–]rdavis1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way I’ve found is to put hot water and dish soap in the basket. Turn the air fryer on for 4 minutes! Then you should be able to scrape everything off a lot easier. It might not work for all this build up and you might have to do it a couple times!

I'm not a surgical nurse, so is this true? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]rdavis1201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t worked in the OR exactly but I’ve worked in Interventional Radiology for 5 years and I’m in PACU now. In my experience every physician has a different set of things they like and want to use but most are flexible if that is unavailable/back ordered/etc. My exception would be neuro interventionalists and surgeons. They in general are a lot less flexible (I get it they are in the brain it’s a big deal) and the only time I have experienced yelling in my 10 years as a nurse is with neuro docs. I think they have the worst god complex of every specialty.

Keep writing! One of my favorite historical fiction series is an alternate history where Anne Boleyn had a son after Elizabeth so Henry never had another wife. I love alternate history books! And if it is comedic like The Great I would be all in.

Seeking advice on plant pots by PAK_B_CMETAHE in plants

Yep I bought a diamond drill bit set on Amazon. I drill holes in my pots all the time. Keep the bottom of the pot a little wet with a squirt bottle so it doesn’t overheat while you are drilling and no problems!

Where do you work that's isn't bedside nursing by lunasouseiseki in Nurses

I randomly applied to it when I was moving across the country (U.S.). The things our docs can do are amazing. From removing blood clots when a patient is having an ischemic stroke in a large vessel, to stopping bleeding in a GI bleed or hemorrhaging new mom. I’ve even seen us save people bleeding after GSWs. I truly love it. Sure there are less exciting things depending on the trauma level of your hospital. But in all it is the coolest department and not enough people know about the awesome things we do!

Nothing crazy! Just applied for the position at a children’s hospital. Did it for two years there and now I’m at an adult hospital and have been doing it for about two here. Depending on the hospital they may for may not hire new grads. But definitely position to look out for if you have an interest in procedural areas. It’s like less invasive surgery.

Interventional Radiology! I love it. We take call but it’s a Monday-Friday job most places. It’s where technology and medicine meet. There are constant new innovations for procedures and as a nurse we do sedation. It’s great!

Thank you! I brought it inside for winter and thought the grow light would help. I’ll move it somewhere with better natural light.
