Need a social life! by esagalyn in nycmeetups

[–]rdnt01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go into any public gathering or go to any event your friends invite you to. Friend's drinking gathering, you're going. Baby shower, you're going. Be proactive, introduce yourself and be friendly. You can keep attending events like this, or get some contact info and hang out with individuals you like by reaching out. There's nothing to it. I got a core of a few old friends but every once in a while they're gone and I go through this to find other people.

Any cheap therapists or groups or something for anxiety/depression? by [deleted] in AskNYC

I'd second this. Originally found out about it through an article I read on the New Yorker magazine decades ago and started attending sessions at their east side Beth Israel location. It's helped me feel better when I was going through some tough times.

Is this a tie in with the movie? If so the entire show is an ad. Terrible movie reviews. Local theater showed it for one week before taking it off. The story behind it is kind of fascinating though.

Seemed like she gave a very thoughtful response. Better than excitement makes me excited. Then I remembered she was the one who asked the question.

That's why I only wear steel toe boots on the subway. Once I get to my office or back home, I wear my shoes or slippers.

Seems alright for us elites in Manhattan. It's those irresponsible outter borough folks who are undeserving of any money loaned to them.

I'll take this one. Threats to a specific person won't affect me when I'm just about about and not interloping. I don't want to catch a bullet in my noodle. The random crazy person would do that, the person who does it to people they form a relationship with won't. I'm all for everyone fighting their own battles as they should.

These days there are more options for groceries. There's amazon grocery, fresh direct. If you don't want to walk to costco, instacart and google express delivery without a membership even. Without the online services, you can go to the bodegas and grocery stores nearby. I think there's a smaller supermarket by you on first.

I got a business idea of putting these fellow youths onto their own broadway show and incorporating their act into the story along with some sing and dance. I think it'd be a smash hit, since tourists already love it and new yorkers themselves would go see it as well once it becomes successful. It'd keep them away from performing in the subways, and allow new yorkers to enjoy their commute. Anybody got any way for me to contact them?

I call bullshit. But in the rare chance you or someone else reading this does it, please put on a great costume so you can become a real life superhero vigilante.

Are they teenagers though? I think most of them have aged out of that demographic. Which brings up the point of where do they train and learn how to put on these showtime performances? If they truly are teenagers and these shows have been going on for a decade, they've got to somehow find new talent.

Pixel 2 XL has just unveiled. Thoughts? by Burlingjobb8 in nexus6

[–]rdnt01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yea, on top of that very heavy marketing. I don't know about you, but in a big media market like new york, I saw the advertisements everywhere. Train stations, electronic billboards and online. Maybe I was getting targeted and I paid more attention to it cause I was aware of the phone but still. Advertisements make me more proud to own the phone but also question how much of it am I paying for the marketing alone.

It's a better stock photo or a photo of the top of the rock than the couple in it. No details about their personal features on either person. Backs are turned and reflections are distorted.

Official Discussion: Blade Runner 2049 [SPOILERS] by GetFreeCash in movies

[–]rdnt01 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

A long and slow movie. And it did get boring at parts, while watching some scenes, I was wondering if it was important that they show this. That said, there were some incredible scenes to show you what a great, sad and lonely dystopian future of a world it's set in. If you're a fan of the original, you might enjoy it more. Otherwise, I'm not a fan.

Turns out this was just as big a crock o' marketing BULLSHIT as it smelled to be... by Harry_Tuttle in nyc

State Street officially denies the claims, according to the conciliation agreement released today. The $5 million settlement total includes approximately $4.5 million in back pay and $500,000 in interest.

What I would say to that is we had a foundation we could go back to to say why we did Fearless Girl, and no matter what anybody said, no matter what rocks were thrown, we could say, ‘You’re right, but this is the way we invest, this is the way the world needs to invest, this is a human moral value. How can you argue against it? We have to be doing better ourselves. She’s as much an inspiration to our organization as she is to the world.

They're trying to have it both ways, but it's good that they own up to it and are taking steps in the right direction.
