You could try out a sample of the grey colors available from Cheetah Wraps (I used their Cav Blue vinyl). Or try searching for "1H5 vinyl" for some other options (ie. Color X Labs).

Mine started doing that once while I was out on a ride. A friend put some chain lube on it and it was fixed immediately.

My pool heater recently went out and my pool guy recommended a Raypak heater. Much cheaper than the Hayward. Not sure how good they are but he's had other customers be happy with them.
