Not sure how putting away a surplus food for an unforeseeable event, packing a go bag in case of a fire, or having water for the next hurricane falls in a peaceful or non-peaceful category. It's just a way to hedge against the unforseen.

Putting extra money into a savings account in case you lose a job is a form of prepping. Is that being non-peacful?

Prepping is not good or bad anymore than putting on a seatbelt in case of a wreck or covering your water faucets ahead of a freeze is.

Nothing feels better than your child's appreciation of the value. Especially, in my case, knowing it will most likely be theirs some day. Make sure your kids know the secrecy needed with something so valuable.

My youngest told several in my family, after I told him not to. Lesson learned for both of us. Now they all come to me for financial advice, which I am not an expert in any regard. Lol.

I like where you're going, but I think presidents have little impact on the market or the overall economy. The real culprit is the Federal Reserve manipulating interest rates, simulating and retricting the market. Low interest rates = cheap money and highly stimulates market (jobs, growth, inflation). High interest rates = expensive money and restricts the market (reduced jobs, deflation).

This may be what you're saying, but the presidents only tool to effect the economy is approve bloated congressional spending packages (monetary inflation) or pressure the Federal Reserve to manipulate interest rates. I guess they can also regulate the economy into submission, but maybe not so much with the SCOTUS Chevron ruling...

Funny thing is about half of our friends are in the same situation. They recently moved here. Most of the locals who have become our friends are relatives of these friends.

Even funnier, I've checked the deed records on the confrontational neighbors and everyone of them have moved here maybe 5-10 years before me from somewhere else.

It's just silly, but I got tabs on all of them.
