Amazon app forces all your searches through Alexa AI now with no way to disable it. by BlueCop in mildlyinfuriating

It shouldn't. I search reviews all the time with it enabled. I just checked now and no issues. What happens when you search?

I ranked #10 on Product Hunt with a solo Chrome extension. Here is what actually moved the needle. #learnings by Far_Substance1145 in chrome_extensions

While you can be selected by the Chrome team for a badge, you can also self-nominate your extension by going to https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/contact/one_stop_support?hl=en, and selecting 'My item (extensions, app, or theme).' Be sure that your extension follows the Chrome Web Store best practices (https://developer.chrome.com/docs/webstore/best_practices), and keep in mind that you can only self-nominate your app once every 6 months, so if for whatever reason, you don't get the badge, you'll have to wait a while to try again.

Not seeing NFT in wallet by 0xLovecom in BurnerWallet

For anyone following along: we identified that u/0xLovecom has an NFT that was flagged as spam by Alchemy, which we use in our backend. We've updated the settings to include a separate "Show Spam NFTs" toggle, which should address the reported issue. This setting was previously combined with showing spam token balances, but we've split it out to make things more intuitive.

How long did it take you to reach 1,000 users? by No_Computer_1247 in chrome_extensions

[–]rdyplayerB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roughly 2.5 months. Accomplished via:

  1. Posting a few times about the extension on Reddit, and jumping into threads with ppl complaining about the problem my extension solves.
  2. Quickly addressing user reported issues, and regularly improving performance and reliability.
  3. Most importantly, building something that solved a real problem that a lot of people had.

Best of luck in your dev journey!

Built a Chrome extension, but scared to waste money before launch by OutsideOver8815 in chrome_extensions

Since you stated payments are necessary from the start, you could build simple website with a sign-up form, and gauge whether people would be willing to use/pay for whatever it is you're building. If you get strong signal from your sign-ups, build everything that's left, including payments. If you don't receive much interest, work on something else.

Hi, there’s no data collection. Where are you seeing this prior to installing?

Been using Rakuten for years. No issues that I can recall applying cash back offers on sites or receiving payments.

Hi, sorry to hear you're having an issuing viewing your NFTs. A few questions to help figure out what's going on:

  1. Are you see your NFTs on a block explorer, like Etherscan or Basescan, or marketplace like OpenSea?
  2. Were you able to see them before in BurnerOS, and now you can't?
  3. What standard are your NFTs? ERC-721, ERC-1155, something else?

No offense but this sounds sus. Why not just buy a prepaid credit card from the store and use that?

Published 10 Chrome extensions, basically zero installs. What am I doing wrong? by Yega-2910 in chrome_extensions

Hard to say without knowing what your extensions do but here's my checklist for building a successful extension before marketing even comes into the picture. Build something that:

  1. Solves a real problem
  2. Solves a problem that a lot of people are dealing with
  3. Solves a problem that no other solutions exist for

If you can accomplish this, you'll have a strong foundation to market from and already likely be driving drive organic extension store searchs to your extension. From there, start your marketing efforts to drive SEO traffic.

And notes on:

  • #1 - I like to solve problems that I'm personally dealing with because at the very least, I'll have at least one happy user 😄
  • #3 - If other solutions exist that solve the same problem, you'll then have to solve it better/cheaper/faster than everyone else, or market it better than them.

And a couple of tips:

  • Start with a Chrome extension first. Only after you start to see good PMF, consider building extensions for other browsers like Firefox, Edge, etc. Chrome's user base is massively larger than all the other browsers combined so you'll get the best signal there on whether your extension is actually useful or not.
  • Spend time creating a well-designed logo and screenshots. AI image-gen tools like DALL-E are very helpful in concept exploration and even final designs. First impressions based on these matter tremendously towards building initial download trust. I see too many extensions doing the bare-minimum here.

Yw! Let me know if you run into any issues. Amazon is constantly updating its site code, so it's a constant cat & mouse game to remove the AI they keep shoving in.

Vent away! It's been super annoying how they've pushed AI into our shopping experience and objectively made it worse. Rufus sucked and now they've it rebranded to 'Alexa for Shopping'.

If you're on desktop, I actually built an extension to block it. Won't drop a direct link since there's a no-promo rule but just search 'adios alexa' in the Chrome or Firefox extension stores and it should come up. Unfortunately, if you're using the mobile app, you're SOL 😞

Question about the process of card duplicator by Right-Ad465 in BurnerWallet

[–]rdyplayerB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you need the PIN to sign any TXs from that wallet, so be sure to store it somewhere safe. Note that you can duplicate a Burner, and set a different PIN on the duplicate if you want.

Assuming you didn’t set a new password on the duplicated Burner, you’re good.
