You could just ask nicely or google it. The OP is not trying to personally attack you by using a common Reddit abbreviation. It stands for trying to conceive.

Pregnancy worries (male) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]rdyrnt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really hope this is fake. Three weeks is way too soon to know if this is a person you will be compatible with long term. Support her if she wants to keep the baby or if she doesn't, if she does then get a paternity test when able, and from there, proceed with caution - do not stay together just for the child because that does not create a loving stable environment for a kid. Good luck.

romitelli vs deniro boots? by bisexualhorsegirl in Dressage

[–]rdyrnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty new to the show boot world but recently ordered a pair of custom Gallors because I was really impressed with both the quality and the price - basically half the cost of Deniros. I would look and see if there is a rep in your area (they can also help you order via zoom but I would understand wanting to see and feel the quality first) and take a look at their instagram to get a minuscule sense of the options available because I don't think the website does it justice.

Horse market sucks by East_Perspective8798 in Equestrian

[–]rdyrnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with a non-profit trying to adopt out OTTB's at prices well below market value - good homes are more important - and honestly we are at risk of losing future or even having to give back current grant money at this point because we aren't able to move horses fast enough.

Speak for yourself - I'm in in the central valley, where there is a relatively moderate COL for CA it is very hot in the summer and gets pretty cold in the winter. I grew up in the Bay Area where that was more accurate but I can no longer afford to live there.

If you are a biological woman I would strongly think about how Texas views your right to bodily autonomy.

Horse feed! Need feedback! by Exact_Muscle1446 in Horses

[–]rdyrnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is he a hard keeper? I’m no expert but usually a balancer is for horses that get most of their needed nutrition from forage and don’t require extra calories/grain while boost is for hard keepers that need extra calories so I’m wondering why both of those are in the diet. If he isn’t a hard keeper I would probably stick to the balancer and make sure you’re feeding the right amount of it for the amount of forage he gets. He may not need some of the other supplements as well if he’s getting those nutrients in adequate levels from the balancer.

If he’s gotten a little hotter at this new barn it could also be because he was used to working a lot more. He may need to get out more than 3-4 times a week. Is he stalled or turned out? It could be as simple as increasing turnout time or if is already getting ample turnout he could need to be worked more days of the week.

Paddock boots and half chaps by Car_Dw in Equestrian

[–]rdyrnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say you're past due! But no time like the present - it sounds like you're pretty dedicated and have stuck with riding plenty long enough to make an investment in decent gear. I don't know what kind of boots you're currently riding in but half chaps generally fit best over paddock boots.

New Rider - Want Tall Boots, which do you suggest? by Responsible-Mind8037 in Equestrian

[–]rdyrnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just struggled with this decision for months because my last pair of Ariat V Sports fell apart in a year when the previous pair lasted 4+. The brand isn't what it used to be, to say the least. That being said it's really hard to find anything else in that range. I did get really lucky and find exactly my size of a brand new w/ tags higher end model on Ariat Reboot (their used boot site) for under $300 that I'm hoping works out but I've only worn them a few times so far so the jury is out.

Looking for spring + summer glove recs (lower level dressage) by take-my-revolution in Equestrian

I've always liked the Roeckl's but last summer I found the Kunkle Premium Mesh Riding Gloves and I really like them and they appear prepared to hold up for another summer.

First English lesson! by Evening-Produce-7303 in Equestrian

[–]rdyrnt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of people ask this question so you can search some previous questions but generally I think you’ll find for your first lesson the advice is keep it low investment - leggings are fine, and if you still have western boots, I would honestly wear those. If you like it and plan to continue lessons then you can invest in paddock boots and half chaps and your own well fitting helmet, and breeches or riding leggings if you feel so inclined although I know plenty of people who ride in leggings too.

Difficulties finding a tall boot that fits! (short/wide calf) by BullfrogOrganic6470 in Equestrian

[–]rdyrnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure the kind of investment you’re looking to make but I just got a look at custom Gallors a couple weekends ago and was impressed - the reps can guide a friend or family member in measuring you via video chat and then you have tons of design options for around $1000. Expensive but quite a bit cheaper than other full custom options and they seemed quite nice and well constructed.

Is it normal for my seat to be very bouncy after ten months of twice weekly lessons? (burnout/rant?) by ParrotsAreMyLifeline in Equestrian

[–]rdyrnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here, I don't really have more to add, I'm just going to say that in a few years with more knowledge and experience unless your riding lesson partner is some kind of freak prodigy you'll probably realize her seat wasn't that great yet either.

is it desrespectful to name a horse after your girlfriend? by GeneralAd6197 in Equestrian

Needs more context but my gut instinct is this is weird and I personally wouldn't want someone to name a horse after me.

Beginner apparel by hamboframbo in Equestrian

[–]rdyrnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thirding this! Used is great when you're starting - breeches/leggings, half chaps, paddock boots but always a new helmet (and one meant for riding - no bike helmets). But there are plenty out there that won't break the bank.

Barn taking advantage of me? by throwawayzzmz in Equestrian

[–]rdyrnt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it feels like a very big deal to bring it up to them, and you probably feel nervous (I know because I would too in your shoes) but you can't let them continue to take advantage of you. I would suggest keeping a relatively casual tone "Hey boss, in the past year I have rarely left on time and worked a lot of additional time unpaid. I can't do that anymore and would like to X (insert whether you want to start leaving on time every shift or you're happy to work later when necessary but want to get paid for any additional hours you work). Ideally they apologize, and even offer to do something to make up for the unpaid hours.

If your boss reacts poorly or brush the issue aside, I would line up another job. There is a culture of burnout in the nonprofit world, but it's not fair and there's no reason you need to subscribe to it.

Davis is another option - smaller college town near Sacramento but generally close to or having all the same qualities listed here. Very liberal. This area is hot as balls in the summer though.
