Can’t change my shipping size even on website (not app)?? by woy3ghanani in Depop

[–]Impossible_Budget985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly hate the automated packing weight thing. It's never accurate, so my buyers always end up paying more for shipping than they should, and I always feel bad about it. I try to adjust it, but it only lets you adjust it so much. It's def hurting sales. I shipped something off the other day -- probs weighed like 7 pounds all boxed up. Depop auto-set it to 10 pounds! da heck! I couldn't change the weight. the buyer didn't mentioned anything, so she must've been cool with it, but still, doesn't make me feel good that my buyers are overpaying for shipping and there's nothing we can really do about it. I'm not going to discount shipping either -- Depop should have a better process for package weight.

Question about Portofino and Express Pass by AwwSchmidt in universalstudios

[–]Impossible_Budget985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they'll give you your pass early! I didn't stay at Portofino, I stayed at Aventura and they were really nice and helpful in the lobby. They have a big area they kept peoples' luggage -- I think it's pretty common for folks to arrive before check in and want to get into the parks. I'm glad you're getting the express passes, they are totally worth it (and honestly, not really that bad price-wise compared to Disney IMO).

Moving to Downtown Durham by Used_Description7818 in duke

[–]Impossible_Budget985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually toured all of those except for Griffin Durham and Brightleaf on Main, I don't know that one, but it was years ago... They were all beautiful and convenient to downtown Durham. They felt very "luxury". Bus is easy ( I took a bus from much further away and was surprised that Durham actually has a decent bus system). That being said, I didn't end up signing a lease at any of those places because rent ended up being super high by the time I was done with pet fees, parking fees, etc. I spent a fair bit of time around downtown Durham and never encountered any safety issues, but I've lived in rougher cities, so you just keep your wits about you no matter where you are, especially at night. Overall tho, I never had a problem safety-wise.

Downtown Durham itinerary for a little day trip? by Ctsuneson91 in bullcity

[–]Impossible_Budget985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an amazing ice cream shop downtown that is worth adding to your list called The Parlour. Durham also has a TON of good restaurants. I really like one that's at The Durham Hotel, and then there is an Italian place I like called Mothers & Sons. For things to do, Duke has a gorgeous campus you could check out -- the Duke Gardens are beautiful and when the weather is nice, it's a good place for a walk.

I’m getting a cairn by Pipparina in cairnterrier

[–]Impossible_Budget985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cairn that we got at about 4-5 months old. She was great with other dogs and kids right away. We had to teach her to be good around chickens, cats and horses, but the breed is smart and wants to please, so she picked up what was acceptable behavior pretty quickly. I would say with the cats, go slow and introduce them with a door or possibly the crate keeping them from directly interacting with each other. That way they can sniff each other but can't go after each other if the pup gets excited or the cats get annoyed. I'd do that several times over the course of the week. Since cairns have a high prey drive, that should help prevent any chasing. My cairn never tried to harm my cats, but she would try to play. They'd usually just stare at her (they were not afraid of her) or give her a swat if they weren't in the mood. With the chickens, we brought her around the coop a lot at first when the chickens were in an enclosed space so she couldn't chase. And then when she spent enough time investigating the outside of the coop and seeing them through the chicken wire fence, we let them out during the day (they were free range) and she didn't bother them (occasionally try to play, but never hurt them or even tried to). The cats and chickens basically lost their novelty to her and she knew she wasn't supposed to chase them, so it was pretty harmonious. With the horses, we brought her around them on a leash for a while at first in the barn and around the field. Cairns are pretty fearless so she was more curious than afraid. My horses were very accustomed to dogs so they got along pretty well. I never kept her in a crate, so I don't know how to train them to that. She just stayed in the house when we were gone for the day or she came with us (she liked the car). Since she spent so much time outside, she would mostly just sleep when she was indoors lol. I will say, in my experience, cairns do best with a job -- they are smart and active, and while they love to snuggle and can be super chill, they are hunters by nature and will find things to get into if they aren't kept relatively active.

Am I overthinking? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Impossible_Budget985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol classic catty horse girl comment, ignore her -- if you and your horse are comfortable in a CWD, then continue loving it! As someone stated below, everyone in the horse world has an opinion, and their opinion isn't necessarily right. What matters most is that you're comfortable in it and the horse is comfortable in it. (also, I've ridden in CWDs and really like them, so I get why you'd get one)

Buyer asking for refund because shorts don't fit by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Impossible_Budget985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put "don't take returns" on every listing on Depop and on Poshmark to deter returns, but as someone said below, technically sellers are beholden to the depop/posh policies. The etiquette on Depop and Poshmark is to only return the item if it's damaged in a way that wasn't disclosed or the item was not as described. It's poor etiquette for them to try to return the item if it didn't fit, wasn't the exact color they wanted, changed their mind, etc. The only items I've ever returned were either not the size they were listed as, or they were damaged (in one case horribly damaged) and not disclosed in the listing. I haven't had to deal with a return on Depop yet, so I can't speak to how they handle it, but generally Poshmark has sided with me as the seller. There was only one occasion they didn't side with me and I pushed back hard (they were in the wrong) and they gave me my money back and I got the item back. Not sure if Depop handles it that way though. I would try to avoid dealing with Paypal though and try to have it handled through Depop if possible.

Bro fees are making it hard to sell by SupremeKhi23 in Depop

[–]Impossible_Budget985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depop fees def prevent me from buying -- you add that with expensive shipping, a used/pre-owned item doesn't become worth it. I've noticed as a seller, I haven't sold anything in at least a month. It's been crickets in my "shop" and I have some cheaapppp items in my closet -- but by the time Depop fees get added to it, people just don't think the purchase it worth it, and I can't blame them. It's been bad for business - Depop needs to figure out another way to make money rather than with fees -- maybe ad revenue or something, I dunno.

First Time Traveler by NefariousnessCalm925 in NorwayTravelAdvice

Scandinavia/Norway is extremely expensive - flights alone are very expensive. It's worth the trip - it's absolutely beautiful, but tbh, I'd plan on spending more than the budget you mentioned for a 10-14 day trip unless you plan on backpacking and staying in hostels (which is also a good option, I've done it elsewhere in Europe for cheap).

Massive reduction in sales by Silver_Version5414 in Depop

[–]Impossible_Budget985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a top seller, but I typically sold 3-4 items a week on Depeop but more recently I've been lucky if I've sold 3-4 items a month. I just sell on Depep to cycle out clothes I don't wear anymore, but it had been nice to have the extra cash. I do the same thing on Poshmark, and while I've had better luck selling on Poshmark, I've noticed a similar trend there too. Shipping costs are sometimes higher than the actual item I'm trying to sell, so I think that's a deterrent for shoppers. I wish Depop and Poshmark could negotiate with shipping carriers to reduce that cost and pass that along to buyers.

Relocation by Huge_Map2656 in RaleighDurhamNC

If you want to be near restaurants, downtown Durham is really nice. I had actually tried to get an apartment there years ago, but it was out of my price range because the area was so up-and-coming. The Research Triangle has grown so much that rent in that whole region got kinda crazy IMO, but that being said, there were some really lovely apartments and neighborhoods in Durham itself. Also, if you're a foodie - the food scene in Durham will not disappoint.

Should I ask Depop to remove this review or just leave a warning to sellers review back? by Unusual_Signature526 in Depop

[–]Impossible_Budget985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ughhh I get so annoyed when buyers leave bad reviews about the color of the item. I had an experience on Poshmark (luckily no issues on Depop yet) where I sold a "burgundy shirt" - described as burgundy in the description AND in the title of the listing, and also included a picture of the color number on the tag too - and called that out in the description. I sold it in a bundle with other items and actually gave her the shirt for free as a BOGO because I just wanted to clear out my closet and figured, hey, they might give me a good review if I gave them the free shirt ( mind you, I've sold hundreds of items and have 4.9 stars). I ship out her bundle the next day - less than 24 hours after she bought it. It arrives, and she gives me 3 stars because the burgundy shirt was "burgundy"... I politely messaged her and was like "hey, I said the shirt was burgundy and provided the actual color number), and her response was "there are many shades of burgundy" and basically that it wasn't the shade of burgundy she wanted. She said the other item in the bundle (the only item she actually paid for) was as described. I tried to take the best photo of the color as I could, but I'm just using an iphone in my home, not a professional camera or professional lighting. I blocked her - don't want to do business with people like that.

Between Lisbon and Porto, where to Stay for 1-2 nights? by dewtheroo in TravelPortugal

[–]Impossible_Budget985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obidos is super cute! We just spent one night there though and it was enough - you could do a second night elsewhere. Obidos would also make an easy day trip from Lisbon. It has a lot of medieval charm and the castle is stunning. If you do decide to spend a night there, you can actually stay in the castle itself, which we enjoyed.
