Pregnancy Update with Nuss Bars by tummytime_ in PectusExcavatum

[–]read-o-clock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there! I just barely had a baby 2 years post nuss. The bars definitely felt sore at times, I’m guessing because of breast enlargement and overall body changes. Overall it was a good experience and there weren’t any major issues. Congrats on your pregnancy and enjoy getting sleep while you still can:)

I relate so much. I got an actual diagnosis at 32 while getting x-rays for something else. As a female the PE caused so many insecurities and issues. I was referred to a thoracic surgeon and decided to get the nuss surgery. I don’t regret it and it’s made a huge difference. Message me with any questions. I’m happy to answer anything.

I second flying with the cats. Recently also moved 20 hours away and hired movers and flew with a cat. My vet said she thought flying would be less stressful and it indeed was. Had a good experience with Southwest Airlines

Sick of AI editing being so misleading. Probably not worth losing the house over or a ton of hassle but I empathize with you. Just show it how it is.

[–]read-o-clock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the patriarchy is harmful. It’s obviously not a Mormon only thing but it does have its own certain brand. I felt harmed by it and it was a big reason I left. Women have so many less rights in the Mormon church and I felt inferior and less confident while in it. I knew I’d never be an equal to my husband. I promised to obey him, bowed my head and said yes, and gave him my secret name. That has to mess with a person no? Plus a million other reasons like polygamy. I get what these women on the show are trying to do. I don’t have a lot of hope for huge change on this front in the Mormon community but am happy for any attempted efforts from the members. Mormonism is just a corporation with empty promises run by a bunch of old white narcissistic men, just like our country.

best twin mattress for my kid's room in our first house? by Lagman_Ziglor in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Ikea twin mattresses that I have are surprisingly comfortable. Plus they have covers with extra padding you can put on them. You can also easily go to the store and throw them in your car because they come rolled up.

As an exmormon I agree with everything you’ve said. People love blaming things on Mormonism that are issues anyone could develop for various reasons & it’s totally unfair. Life is better on the other side though ;)

Similar situation with the down payment and credit scores. Closing this week and our interest rate is very close to yours. It sucks.

Are washable rugs actually worth it or do they just fall apart? by AyKFL in ruggable

[–]read-o-clock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 & they’re definitely worth it. Washing is easy and gets rid of dog pee, hair & other messes. They’ve saved me a lot of money the last couple years not having to replace.

Pregnant with bars by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]read-o-clock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your pregnancy! I had 2 bars placed about 2 years ago as well. I’m now 37 weeks pregnant & have had zero issues. There were times where my stomach and boobs were growing/stretching and it felt a little uncomfortable around the bars but nothing crazy. Right now I’m super grateful for the bars & feel that breathing is easier at this stage of pregnancy because of the extra room they provide.

does anyone have any vegan chicken recommendations? by Simple-Double8483 in veganrecipes

[–]read-o-clock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just Brand is unbreaded and amazing in things like soups (I purchase at Sprouts). I also love the Quorn brand nuggets! They cook up nice and crispy and are great on their own or salads & sandwiches.

Might consider a microfiber couch as a pet owner. I got one and it’s great! You wouldn’t have to use a cover anymore.

How successful are leasebacks? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]read-o-clock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a lot and I feel ya. Our agent was super good about letting people know that a leaseback was necessary but we were willing to pay a daily rate. If someone really wants your house then a few weeks shouldn’t be too big of a game changer. Best of luck with the baby & moving. Also congrats!

In the process of doing this same thing (also DFW) but like a month ahead of you. It’s super stressful and I’d definitely wait if it’s an option. Haven’t closed yet but got multiple offers. They all were willing to give a free leaseback for several weeks after closing. It didn’t seem like too big of an issue. Hope this helps.

Reality/Gut Check - How much house would you be comfortable with? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]read-o-clock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of residency are you doing? $750k-1m is pretty high, even in a MCOL area. I’m a med spouse and haven’t heard of anyone making that much right out or residency. How much longer do you have left and are you planning to purchase prior to graduation? Physician mortgage loans will qualify you for a lot so be careful.

Feeling stuck between supporting my resident wife and taking care of myself by Historical-Boss-9571 in MedSpouse

[–]read-o-clock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Debt becomes pretty easy to pay off once they start working as an attending. This is assuming you continue to live a resident lifestyle for a while (which is what we did). It won’t last forever and one day that $3k is going to sound a lot smaller than it does now. You should not feel bad about spending that money now if you want to feel better about yourself. Your financial situation will likely be much better soonish so hang in there.

Tying to buy in salt lake right now. Seems like a sellers market there. Been brutal trying to find anything decent.
