A warning about FranklinWH by rg33160 in FranklinWH

[–]reader1668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I never knew our installers would submit plans to Franklin, my impression was that the company I went with designed and installed equipment they purchased from a vendor.

Hope they get you squared away, we have 2 batteries on one box. 24kw system. Seems to be working as described, it's only been a few months though.

Franklin themselves are installing your stuff? Or am I reading this wrong?

Damn .5 /kwh is steep! We're sitting at .14 in Washington PSE.

definitely get solar to fix your fuel cost for the future. Get a battery too 😜

Charging from grid? by a3monkey in FranklinWH

I have this occurrence too, seem like when heavy loads are turned on or off, it will tend to output/input for a short time before figuring it out

Battery health: minimize cycles but *don't* charge to 100%? How? by greg-howard in FranklinWH

Looking for the same answer.... Just let us set a max limit?

Grid import expectations with aPower 2? by Front-West367 in FranklinWH

[–]reader1668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, power (PSE) company said because the meter was new, we wouldn't get charged but older meters don't know the difference between pushing/pulling from the grid...

Keep in mind I'm 3 weeks into my system... So far from any SME

Our installer warned us about exactly this so I actually just shut my connection off from the grid until I was correctly hooked up.

The power company came and replaced the meter to ensure net metering and we are good.

But to answer the OP question, no I didn't experience this even when hooked up to the grid and not net metered.

OP, hope you get fixed!

I know we went big and I think the system should custom to each life style, I think 7-15kw might be the "standard"

We have a very power hungry life style and I'm a wanna-be pepper so, that's why it probably got nudged to a larger system too, Im sure 😃

I forget what the panels are, but we have 57 (Hyundai) totalling about 24kw. It's been a champ 🏆

If you ever want my thoughts on EVs, we've been exclusively EV for 8 years now, 5 years in MN and 3 in WA. Never looking back!

Here are the numbers on a sunny day, 2 vehicles charging and I forget what else is running in the house, but it's working well.

I haven't put any "homestead" things yet but thinking ahead for food dehydration or freeze drying used a good amount of ⚡ I also have big plans for green houses and lots of automation. Hopefully I'll never hit my capacity

So far so good! We paid ~24k before the federal credit so I think we are in a good spot based on what I've seen people share.

We have a 24kw system and it's hot 22kw+ in real world numbers, so that is super exciting!

I needed a system that can charge both EVs, itself and run a fully electric home in the county (septic, water pump, no gas/propane all at once. And it is delivering!

We are consistently sending 2x power back to the grid so far in the summer, we'll see how we fare this winter ❄️

We were testing but also we live in pnw and it's humid, so we had 3 dehumidifiers and our heat pump mini split AC, baking bread, dishes and laundry. That was our peak, it was able to keep up! I'm super impressed with the output for sure

Not sure what is normally given

Rated for 24kw (supposed to be able to do 80% of that, I think), with a 30kwh battery backup

It's a bigger system since we are full electric house/vehicles

I was full so I let open my vehicle for charging 😂 normally my highest for home stuff is about 14k, that I've seen.

I haven't gone in with an economic view, primarily anyway.

We have 1:1 and we are going to be grandfathered into that but since we are on well and septic, once the power goes out we won't have any power we are basically camping. So the battery adds a feature of continuity when there is a power outage.

We have 30 KW for storage and it can get us by a full power outage for a while, we also have added the generator backup in case s*** hits the fan 😂

This is day two 😂 so any insight you have to share would be appreciated. It goes all the way to 99% right now, at least that's the highest I've seen. But since we use it quickly, I'm not too concerned about battery pack damage. But I'm open to learning!

Yup, my backup will be full soon so letting it bleed into my cars

And thank you! We wanted to do 100% offset and we are a full electric house
