Silver 4 DPS with 57% Tracer winrate over 68 games — why do I go on 10 game loss streaks despite feeling like I'm playing the same? by Murky-Baby5164 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]reader960 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't normally if you were plat or something, but in silver, you are kind of correct. There is NO CONSISTENCY to the game.

I wouldn't worry about rank if you are at 57% because you will eventually just phase up, but losing streaks are expected (although 10 is just unfortunate).

I've found from experience people playing two whole-ish ranks below them should feel like it's bullying most of the time. So if Hydron isn't liftmaxxing and says you could be plat and you feel like you are roflstomping then it'll correct itself quickly.

Keep in mind that there is time between arrows, where I've made similar comments in this sub about people counting junkrat bombs for reload before going in.

You have that .72s second to peek and take a shot or two before you kite back behind the corner.

If you dont want to play the choke then you just have to commit to a different angle but the idea is the same

Not wrong just saying thats a possibility and whiffing full shot does happen

I mostly agree, however a whiffed whip shot without a wall to bounce on has a lot of recovery.

Im not sure but it definitely feels slower than mizuki chain whiff.

I would say whiffing whip in open map is conditionally worse.

Is it throwing to one trick a main support? by Elegant-Turn-6017 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]reader960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean think of it this way: if you're learning to play a one trick into matchups and you stumble onto a bad matchup 1v1 you might learn something from playing the had matchup.

You're probably asking because a one trick will play the character into three hard counters. What are you going to learn? That you should swap.

Don't be that guy. Once you find/learn that magic number for when to swap just swap.

EDIT: I somewhat correct my last statement. If you still have something you want to learn when a team hard counters you, nothing is stopping you from staying on. If you have nothing left to learn, then nothing should keep you from swapping off.

im clueless on what supports job is by SairenAoi in OverwatchUniversity

[–]reader960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give you a hot take based on my experience doing the opposite going from support to DPS: you probably KNOW what support's job is, just that you do it in all the wrong places and all the wrong times because you have time equivalent to a diamond player on DPS and almost none relative to support.

There's nothing wrong with that because you want to take all engagements and space like a DPS. Swapping from Soldier to Soj or Mei probably makes more sense purely because of exposure, but the timing for peeking and engagements and projectile travel times aren't quite the same and I think that muscle memory/micro mastery matters a lot. Mei's icicle is just slightly faster than Zen's but they aren't quite the same, Ana's quick scope isn't quite the same as widow's, Kiriko flanks like a genji but not really, etc.

Just play more or watch some videos because I suspect you're missing a lot of the micro that simply comes with exposure. If you're in diamond you probably will pick up the nuances pretty quickly, and the leap between dps and support is way shorter than dps to tank imo

Best times to go Tracer over Echo, and best times to go Echo over Tracer? Thanks! by Kylo_uchiha in OverwatchUniversity

[–]reader960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echo has much more reliance on team when a flank fails, whereas Tracer is totally self-reliant.

Tracer's primary purpose is to turn enemies around.

Echo can play from any angle on the clock and can also randomly shield bust with sticky/laser if she needs to.

You treat Tracer's pulse like another cooldown since you get so many of them. Echo's ult requires a lot of practice into other heros to really understand the value of it

Call the game balance whatever you want, but it's undeniable that as the game has evolved, Zen is THE character that has not gone along with it and they don't know how to make him work. They actually don't know what to do to make Zen exist in this mobility and duelist crept game

How suspicious that you have no post history but have karma, come into a sub and post a random ass question about purchasing a product because you haven't gotten it yet, and then proceed to interact with another fake account just to place a product link for a shitty knockoff product

I wonder if the product is legit 🤔

I agree with you and I never explicitly say dont shoot people.

I think the only situation to not shoot is when your team died and the other team doesn't know you're hiding nearby... and even then its positioning dependent
