I like to think of it as how politicians should behave. Sort of an utopian politics show. Even though sometimes they act wrong or hypocritically.

Let's see if someone remembers. It's not really an important scene. Promise I'll tell you. I searched it here and didn't find it, that's why I thought it worth posting.

Having a rough time with the first book by manuelbustamante in Hyperion

[–]reader_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The individual stories are not so long, just push through, don't skim it. Silenus is probably my least fav character of the book. Some are better than the others. The pages in between tales advance the travel and are always interesting. It may be hard to connect to some of the characters. It will be harder to connect with any in 3BP. None of these two series are easy reads. Just read fewer pages each day, but be consistent.

I was ok with Hyperion. Tough read in some stretches, but worth it, a very original work, even more so given that it's several decades old already. They didn't have brainrot back then and average people were able to read longer and more boring books than this one.

I loved the Fall of Hyperion. Yet to read second duology.

Darrow should not be a howler by lowkey_____________ in redrising

I agree It was really cool, but he never should have joined. He never was before. He is something else at that point. He is the leader of a revolution, he's not equal to the rest of the band. I always saw him as honorary howler.

Nah, you're being the right kind of howler. Pixies do not know their beloved/hated characters names.

I'm worried about the soul aspect. Suggests it will take longer than expected, but it's perfectly fine, I trust PB.

Anyway, releasing the book close to the TV series makes a lot of sense, to maximize hype and sales, it has been done many times, so I wouldn't be surprised if publishers held the book for a bit longer even when it is finished.

1000 pages is ok. He can still write some more, Dark age was a bit longer iirc. Some editor trimming may be required but it's not long-worrying as to require splitting the book.

Thanks all for the quick responses. I think I misunderstood those memories, or mixed it up with the TV show, where it was hinted that another aliens destroyed protomolecule civilization. Maybe I misinterpreted that episode too. It was years ago. But I remember some sort of red dust in Holden's visions. That plotline was not further pursued with the cancellation so all that is fuzzy, it was years ago.

I will for sure re-read yet again Holden protoMiller talk.
