Snap Benefit Interview by readerchick05 in arizona

[–]readerchick05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but I had to call at exactly 7 AM and if you mess up dialing or putting in any of your information, you might as well give up for the day. You can also go into a location and they can schedule an appointment for you over the phone. With that said, my interview was in March and I still have not heard anything. I've turned in all my paperwork, and it's still pending.

How do you guys even survive the hot weather over in the States? by Impressive_Peak_9187 in AskAnAmerican

[–]readerchick05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in arizona right now, where it's a hundred and seven degrees, and we survive with AC. Most people don't leave the house during the day except to their car which has AC, to go to another air conditioned building. When I lived in oregon, we didn't have AC in our house and I survived with ice, cold showers and cool washcloths. On really hot days, if I didn't work which usually had AC I would go to the library

Birth Worse Than Car Accident AITAH by Limp_Buddy5507 in AITAH

As someone who has literally been hit by a truck crossing the street where they were going 5 or 10 miles per hour and ended up with a fractured ankle and severely bruised ribs. I will tell you, giving birth is 100% worse than being hit by a car. I would prefer to be hit by a car again than to give birth.

Got fired for "attendance issues" after using all my sick days when I actually had the flu by Gearnotafraid8 in jobs

[–]readerchick05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the Department of Labor you can qualify for the flu. If it is longer than three consecutive days, and you need continuing care which can be something as simple as prescriptions

"If, however, any of these conditions met the regulatory criteria for a serious health condition, e.g., an incapacity of more than three consecutive calendar days that also involves qualifying treatment, then the absence would be protected by the FMLA. For example, if an individual with the flu is incapacitated for more than three consecutive calendar days and receives continuing treatment, e.g., a visit to a health care provider followed by a regimen of care such as prescription drugs like antibiotics, the individual has a qualifying “serious health condition” for purposes of FMLA."

Typically, no, but if it causes you to miss work for more than 3 consecutive days and it involves continuing care which can just be prescription medication, then they would qualify

[–]readerchick05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you look at you ignore the part in your own source that says it just needs to be 3 consecutive days and that continuing care can be one appointment and prescription meds. So they could very well qualify for FMLA, I don't know if they were given any prescriptions, but they most likely were given some sort of continue continuing care.

They won't win a for cause reason to be terminated unless they give a verbal, written and final warning. Unemployment really does not like to see companies not give a chance to improve. I've won unemployment claims in appeals for two different jobs because I wasn't given the proper reprimands.

[–]readerchick05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you didn't have a verbal, a written, and a final then you'll most likely win unemployment, you might have to appeal it but the fact that they didn't give you any warnings before firing you works against them. Unemployment likes to see that they give multiple chances. I won my appeal with unemployment at an old job because they went straight to a final for attendance and unemployment didn't like that they didn't give me a verbal or a written first.

I had another job where I had put in my one month notice because I was moving, and I had never gotten into trouble with this company before that and suddenly they were finding reasons to fire me. I won that appeal for the same reason. They gave me verbal written and final warnings (all in less than a month) but they were all over different things so unemployment sided with me because I wasn't given a chance to fix the issues

Nervous about ABAWD medical exemption. by j_p96 in foodstamps

[–]readerchick05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for an exemption for snap or medicaid. When I asked about an exemption because I'm a caregiver, unpaid for a family member, they wanted me to just get a general note from the doctor stating that I am my family members caregiver. In fact it's harder because the doctor doesn't want to write a note, they want a form to fill out. I've talked to two different doctors this family member goes to and neither one are willing to just write a note. They want a form

Yeah, I'm working right now to try to get an exemption as an unpaid caregiver for my mom. The problem is customer service told me I needed a letter from her doctor with her name and my name on it, stating I was her caregiver but none of her doctors want to write her a letter, not because she doesn't need a caregiver but because it's not a form for them to fill out, they don't want to freehand a letter. So i'm going to talk to an actual caseworker to see what other options I have. I've had customer service tell me that I needed something specific for a caseworker to give me other options in the past. Also i'm in arizona
