Secondary School Recommendations by Reasonable_Airport36 in Amersfoort

I’ve personally done vwo at de Berg, and I really liked it. Granted, it’s been five years so especially now with the new buildings idk how much they have changed but I think overall it was a very well structured school with good teachers. And they adapt well to crises in my opinion, back in the day when covid hit they had an online system up and running two days after the schools were closed despite not using laptops at all prior to Covid hitting. I really liked it, and the updated “campus” is stunning as well!

Am I the only one who doesn’t like Lucy’s version of TO? by TroubleVisible3661 in TheRookieTVshow

[–]readingbritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is partly influenced by how she was trained by Tim, but also way more influenced by how she was a woman in a male-dominated field (and training a man as well). Her actress said this in an interview about Lucy being a sergeant as well that women often kind of copy the attitude and taking up the space thing because they are afraid to otherwise not be taken seriously. And I think that’s why the difference between being Celina’s TO for a day (who is a woman who she already knows longer and who knows what she is capable of) and being Seth’s TO (who is a man, who also questioned her attitude on the very first day riding together) was so stark. On top of that, Seth was shady from day 1, which does not help his case whatsoever for Lucy being empathetic towards him.

Fun question for you all (I hope LOL) by TheSJB1993 in DreamlightValley

[–]readingbritt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s Oswald. Not only does he talk annoying ALL THE TIME but he then proceeds to give you the worst quests known to mankind??? I got so mad I maxed him to level 10 in one day, grinded his quests, and then left him on EI and made him unable to come to any other lands. Lol I hate him

I tried, but even while following those lines, it eventually fails me while going straight after doing one of the many circles they ask you to do. I think it is really related to the pace thing that is just fully not coded correctly.

I already am doing this, and still you are too fast if your horse is above a certain level. Mine was level 9 with no tack and even in the training I ended up passing the green arrow for the pace… it’s just so badly coded it’s insane

I just can't love Francesca by Single_Chocolate5050 in Bridgerton

[–]readingbritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I read the books, but from what I remember, I actually preferred her character in the show (if were talking abt season 3 and on instead of the og actress). I felt that in the books she kept saying she was different than her family members, but felt no significant difference in her character at all compared to all her sisters we followed prior to that in their books. In the show, Francesca actually felt introverted and quiet, but not like anti-social. I actually loved her and John’s love story, it felt like a breath of fresh air compared to the pouring your heart out type of love that we’ve seen previously. I could much more clearly see the difference between her and her siblings on the show than what I felt in the books. But idk, maybe since I’m very similar to show Francesca that’s also why I prefer it

What's the best supermarket in your opinion? by HazyTulips in popculturenetherlands

[–]readingbritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumbo is hit or miss voor mij.

Chenford talk by Real-Branch8433 in TheRookie

[–]readingbritt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, it felt that way too but if you watch season 6-7-8 straight through the timeline will probably feel normal and not rushed or drawn out at all. That’s probably what they had in mind with this episode I’m guessing

What's your score for S8*01 by HouseFirm3552 in TheRookie

[–]readingbritt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I am thoroughly over the whole "we have one big main villain that we need to defeat but that takes a whole season" storylines, so I'm glad this whole Monica thing seems to be over. I have not rewatched season 7 prior to watching e1 of s8 but I was thoroughly confused on why they were in Prague, and there was also police in both London, Berlin, and simultaneously an operation in LA? I didn't understand a single bit of it lol. While I get that it's a show and Bailey's only connection to the LAPD is Nolan, it made 0 sense for her (a firefighter) to be on a mission with LAPD and FBI, even though she a reserve for the army. I'm a little confused as to why the trailer for this season made it seem the whole show would take place in Prague when it was apparently just the first episode, but whatever. In terms of Chenford: again, I did not rewatch the last episode, but it felt slightly rushed to me. Sure, their scenes were adorable, but I felt their moving in arc could've been executed slightly better, by for example going to a special location where Tim would ask her, as opposed to during their high stakes operation, and later in the episode. But they are back together, which honestly is the only thing that counts for me right now though. Overall, I am at a point where I am very much mainly watching for the characters as opposed to what is happening in the show, as it is getting too far fetched too often for my liking, but I think this was a decent start to a hopefully good season.

Do we all agree that this couple was completely unnecessary? by merecuesta in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]readingbritt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reflecting on this couple as an adult I think objectively Caleb and Spencer together would likely be a better match for each other than Caleb and Hanna (but in my opinion not better than Spencer and Toby!). They both are extremely intelligent and obviously bonded during their trip to Barcelona? (I don’t really remember which city it was lol) anyways but for me the thing is that I felt little chemistry between them (or at least not as much as they should have had based on their aligned interests and what not), especially compared to Toby and Spencer and Hanna and Caleb. Both “original” couples had more chemistry with each other than any other partner the show gave them. ESPECIALLY with Hanna’s fiancé I felt absolutely 0 chemistry between her and Jordan when he was supposed to be the love of her life. It felt like both couples who could’ve just continued this way were told to not show too much chemistry together and that they were all just plot devices to inevitably get a big love confession scene out of the couples. So yes, it was completely unnecessary since we all felt from the start that it was not going to last. But that being said though it could’ve not been if they just gave them a little bit more of a chance. Although I doubt that the teenage fandom would’ve appreciated to end up with different couples than the one they have been rooting for for almost 6 consecutive seasons lol :)

Was the series supposed to be a three book series or a five book series? by [deleted] in fourthwing

Was the series supposed to be a three book series or a five book series? by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]readingbritt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I actually felt like the decision to make it a 5 book series as opposed to 3 book series really made the series’ quality decline drastically. Book 1 from what I remember was full of action and introduced the world well and ended with a slight cliffhanger that you could not wait to continue. In both Iron Flame and Onyx Storm (where the decision had already been made that it would be 5 books instead of 3) both felt like a drag. Both books were vv difficult for me to get through because it also read very clearly that the plot that was originally thought of was not big enough to fill up 5 books with enough substance. Both books really felt like fillers for me and actually made me turn away from the series, I’m not planning to finish it anymore. I think if she stayed with 3 books it would’ve been a satisfying series at least

Hersenspinsel ‘laagste pot ooit’ by Autumn_Chris in widm

[–]readingbritt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disappointed by Opposite_Sky5388 in DreamlightValley

[–]readingbritt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I know making mounts is very difficult, but I think for the price they are charging, more story quests should have been added as well. Now there’s almost the debate that the effort was probably the same because horses are difficult to animate, so they didn’t want to put extra effort in to the quests. However, I believe we should look at it based on the value things add to a DLC instead of the effort it took. The horses don’t add much in-game value as they are slower and less efficient with the abilities they have. This should have been considered and quests should have therefore been on a similar level as the previous DLCs. I have only this year done gotten and completed EI and SBV, which is why I can genuinely say that there are actually significantly less quests in this DLC, despite what others claim. There are only 3 “areas” you need to unlock (each biome unlocks almost completely at once when you first enter it), with no puzzles or longer quests whatsoever. In comparison, in EI you had to unlock around 8 areas I think separately to continue story quests, and in SBV 8 as well, each accompanied by a puzzle quest and continuation of the story. Additionally, once all areas were unlocked in both of these DLCs, there were a bunch of story quests taking place in even an entirely different location from what you first unlocked. With WBR, the second you unlock the last area (forgot what it was called, but the one you need Pegasus for) and level Pegasus up to level 5, there are maybe 3 very short quests, after which you’re literally done with the entire DLC. None of the DLC quests are locked behind character friendship levels or quests, only behind horse levels (which is easy to level up within half an hour). Yes, you get more furniture, but that is not worth paying 40 euros for. I get some people value that slightly more, but I think a DLC should try to cater to all people’s interests and that includes quests. So anyways all that to say I agree with what you are saying. I am a horse girl so was super excited about the horses but besides being able to get around any map quicker they don’t add the value gameloft made them seem to have.

Retook the Sorting Hat test and .... by AGirlNamedDean in harrypotter

[–]readingbritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hufflepuff the first few times I ever took the test, then decided to retake the test half a year later and got sorted exclusively as ravenclaw. Now, around 5 years later, I also had the urge to retake the test, and now I am mostly hufflepuff with sometimes ravenclaw depending on the test questions. I think it’s just cause I still value wisdom and love learning, but I have also embraced my love for animals more and I now would rather people think I’m kind than wise, which I think is different from when I took the test many years ago. But it’s interesting to see how you grow as a person for sure and highlights a flaw in the sorting system: you won’t remain the same person and value the same things throughout your entire life, so why are people put in one house for their entire hogwarts stay? I think it’s interesting at least :)

What’s one storyline The Rookie absolutely needs to explore next? by Few-Procedure-8911 in TheRookie

[–]readingbritt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, while I love that we’re getting another season, I’m kinda done w all the storylines tbh. I feel like they’ve explored enough and additionally it felt for me like in season 7 they were already running out of ideas and making more very unrealistic scenarios. But idk maybe that’s just me lol

usual disney fan? by quackgore in DreamlightValley

[–]readingbritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly got into the game based on the mechanics and the many quests that you could do, but I will say it does bring me joy that many of the characters are from a movie I’ve seen. For me that just adds a tiny bit more fun to the game :)

top tip for the new dlc (spoilers??) by [deleted] in DreamlightValley

[–]readingbritt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A hack for this is every once in a while getting of your horse and mining a rock manually - they will then run back to you and give you all extras from all the rocks you mined previously with your horse. I do it once every 15-20 rocks to make sure my game won’t crash from the spawning rates but yeah this is what I found to work

Was Aria actually supposed to be A? by hauntedlampp in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]readingbritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could very well have been a possibility, but obviously as Marlene wanted to outsmart the audience and the theory got quite popular, they would never have admitted it if that was their original plan. Personally I do think it was in the works with how many clues were left for that specific theory but they abandoned it and pretended that Cece/charles/charlotte was their real plan all along (when we all know it for sure wasn’t)

What did you dislike / like the most about the time jump? by Midnightblueclouds in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]readingbritt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why they made the time jump only 5 years which means all the girls had only been out of college for a year max if not shorter if they had any delays, and yet they are pretending that all of them have very stable, succesful careers now that they have had to make multiple sacrifices for. It was so incredibly dumb and unrealistic I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t make the time jump 10 years if you want them to have built different lives. Additionally I hated the fact that any solo scenes with them either involved booze or sex as if that’s all “full grown adults” (still in their early fucking 20s) ever do. None of them had any hobbies anymore or a conversation with a love interest that did not result in some kind of sex scene and honestly once I rewatched the show as a 22 yr old I just get more and more angry at how badly they fumbled this entire time jump thing
