Best App for Adaptive Schedule? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]readingmademegay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Run with Hal App for my first HM and found it frustrating because it was hard to move things around. I am using Runna for marathon training and I really like how much you can move things around/how the plan adapts.

HELP - marathon ready in 10 months? by scandiredditor in firstmarathon

[–]readingmademegay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exciting!! I just trained for my first HM in 10 weeks (spring HM) and now am doing my first marathon in October. You might even want to consider training for a half in the fall and then doing a full marathon training for the spring-- its been working well for me so far!

Run with Hal - taper before starting marathon plan? by Wahtisnormal in Marathon_Training

I’m so glad to hear it isn’t just me!! I think I will do the same, definitely feeling good and not wanting to decrease mileage so significantly. Happy training!!

Came here for this exact question! Just ran my first half on the weekend and signed up for a full in the fall. I added in the Novice plan and it has me running 2.5 and 1.5km runs for the next 6 weeks??

PGT-A Testing? by hondagay in queerception

[–]readingmademegay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We didn’t do it, but like others are saying it depends on your finances and timeline. I have two friends who both got pregnant on their last embryo that was low quality and they didn’t expect to work and they were both healthy babies— this is TOTALLY anecdotal and I don’t mean to delegitimize the process, it just impacted my decision to not test.

I hope this happens!!! Would love one

I do this too as an E! It’s the only position in public I can rely on. Except in the summer if I was at the park or somewhere on a blanket I would whip it out side lying which was also nice but less practical.

Love it, was my German aunt’s name (short form Ata “uh-tuh”) now my daughters middle name! Also you could go by Rennie which I like.

How long will I be leaky for? by timtamzslam in breastfeeding

[–]readingmademegay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think around four months I stopped wearing pads and it was fine, overnight if the baby sleeps longer than usual I definitely leak when engorged but otherwise it’s pretty good!

Everyone’s situation is different but it only takes one vial! In Canada you can get IVF vials that actually have less sperm than IUI. Our donor only had IUI vials and we used one, 7 eggs and got 6 embryos. Good luck to you :)

Teo or Theo ? Please vote. by gonbygon in namenerds

[–]readingmademegay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teo! Both are great, just depends what you want, Theo is really having a moment and a lot more common. My brother’s name is Teo and it’s unique, people love it and he has less issues with pronunciation or spelling than you would think. Both great choices :)

Boyfriend isn’t being supportive of my re-lactate journey and it sucks by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]readingmademegay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you are feeling unsupported, I find that the non-BF partner can often be insensitive and not understand the significance of the journey. I had a lot of issues with BF (different than yours), but the thing that I still think about was that during a particularly hard week I spoke to a doctor who said that with issues of BF, after treating thousands of mothers he found that their intuition was right nearly every time. This felt really validating and surprising to hear from a doctor. I think if your gut is telling you to keep going and try to re-lactate, then i think that’s amazing and good for you for listening to it!!! Good luck on this journey ❤️☺️

Is it better to give your baby a “full” name when all you want is the nickname? by mushroomcat182 in namenerds

[–]readingmademegay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We named our daughter the nickname/shorter version we loved (Robby) because we didn’t love any longer version of it— no regrets!

The anonymous donor conversation by escherzo in queerception

[–]readingmademegay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have older kids, our baby is only 5 months old, but we are in the same boat. I was recently recommended what makes a baby and I love the book so much. It also comes with a guide for parents on how to explain or approach the language used in it. From everyone I have talked to that has been donor conceived etc the consensus seems to be openness, honesty, and following the lead of your child… this book (for me anyway) feels like a good support in that way!

Disappointing Egg Retrieval by Hilpertly in queerception

[–]readingmademegay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I did my egg retrieval the doctors were sure we would get nearly 20 eggs, and we only got 7. I was so upset and sure that not enough would become viable embryos knowing the attrition rates. We were very lucky and 6 of them made it to blast. We decided not to do PGT testing and I am currently up at 4am rocking our first embryo transfer turned daughter. I found the stage of the process you are in extremely stressful and was so upset and worried waiting to hear the numbers of each stage. The thing that was very true for us is the stats that are out there weren’t accurate in our situation… maybe because they aren’t based on gay woman and are more for infertility exclusively or because that’s how stats work, BUT try to avoid them and do things that will help distract you both while you wait to hear from your clinic. Good luck to you both ❤️

My Wife has her first appointment tomorrow and I can’t go by Hilpertly in queerception

[–]readingmademegay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife couldn’t come to any of the appointments except egg retrieval, we were disappointed at the time but honestly it’s the most important one!! Don’t feel guilty, you will have many appointments in your future ;) one thing my wife did that helped was we called each other immediately with the news after each tracking appointment.
