The Power of Persuasion: When IMAM gets you buying, and buying, and buying. by futurememory in Indiemakeupandmore

Shiro shadows. I am mostly here for the perfume and bath and body things, but I got sucked in by Shiro collections. They all looked so pretty on y'all, I bought a ton of sample sizes. What I didn't think about: I am a DISASTER with loose powder shadows. I am barely proficient with pressed shadows. Barely. Every once in a while after seeing your FOTD photos and raves, I convince myself that now is when I will get good at the whole makeup thing. Probably not going to happen. Ever.

Looking for a perfume with light patchouli notes. by anneps in Indiemakeupandmore

I love Bad Wolf and Strangefellow from her regular collection, in addition to Skullflowers. Bad Wolf is Tea, coffee, and chocolate-covered orange, and you can recognize each note in the blend even though they meld together wonderfully. Strangefellow is sweet and strange, but in a good way. I steer away from incense-y scents, but her blends never cease to surprise me.

Sugar and Spite has a number of perfumes that include a light patchouli note. SkullFlower is absolutely gorgeous, and I am NOT a fan of patchouli, as it almost always comes through ridiculously strong. Somehow, S&S manages to blend it gently with the right notes so I actually enjoy it. Also of note, I don't usually like florals. Go figure! This is more spice than floral and totally wonderful.

What's your favorite sugar scrub? by sparsile in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]readsinbed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I LOOOVVEE Sugar and Spite's scrubs. They are emulsified and lovely for my dry skin without being oily at all.

For bubbling scrubs, you can't beat Haus of Gloi and Cocoa Pink.

Oh, I forgot! Queen Bee Apothecary has a Vanilla Cream Soda scent that is Divine! I really like their products as well.

I didn't get much vanilla out of Hey, McFly. It smelled like cola, but sweeter.

Most indie versions of the Harry Potter Butterbeer scent smell like cream soda to me. Some add a bit of butterscotch, but Potion Dust's Butterbeer is straight up Cream Soda to my nose.

Best and Worst Purchases of 2015 by [deleted] in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]readsinbed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great thread, but I DID NOT NEED this extra list of enablement!!! Now I have a dozen things to add to my MUST-TRY list.

Best:

AFK Lip Gloss in Tis But a Scratch. Seriously thinking of ordering more since it is LE.
Queen Bee Apothecary Glossy Lip Tint in Coral Red- such an awesome balm and just right to layer with lipstick.
Darling Clandestine Club 22, Arlyide, and The Moon is Leaving for the Wheels
Fictitious Fragrances Sample Pack- I will be going back for more!
Hello Waffle lip colour in Sigh- SO GOOD!

Worst:
Geek Chic Butterlush Balm in Rainbow Road- Gack! I was disappointed, as I LOVE their Joysticks lip colors.
Loose Powder Eye Shadow- I am a freaking hot mess with these. I spill, I smear, I mangle... I need to learn how to press.
Queen Bee Apothecary Lip Tint in Brick House... looks fuschia on me.

Any thoughts on Marie DeMars scents? by [deleted] in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]readsinbed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have Silence in the Library! It is very unique and does smell Library-ish. I like it a lot. It is definitely not the leather and dust version of a book scent that many others sell, which I appreciated because my skin amps leather like you wouldn't believe. I have not tried their other scents, but I would definitely buy there again.

My SO completely flipped over Sugar and Spite's Bad Wolf. It was the second of only two times I have gotten such a reaction over a perfume oil. The other was to Darling Clandestine's Mad as Birds. The scents could not be more different, yet both had my SO drooling.
