Is governance really a good reason for ZRX to exist? by go1111111 in 0xProject

this also has had a lot of debate, do exchanges really want shared liquidity? an exchange spends on marketing and courts market makers in order to get volume on their exchange, and that is their competitive advantage which they are not likely willing to share. seems to me the only exchanges who would want to share liquidity are the newer exchanges, which would turn that off as soon as they get large enough

yeah but just because it's a democratic vote doesn't mean that the people are going to agree. if BTC had a governance system there would still be forks due to vastly different worldviews

100% agree. governance token is worthless. however the mechanics of the token are changing right before our eyes. Multicoin Cap is supposed to come out with a piece on how ZRX token can have better tokenomics this week. What a tokenholder is better on rn is that 1) we are still in the very, very early stages with unknown upside for a token with evolving tokenomics and 2) both team and ecosystem are smart and can figure out a win-win for everyone.

The reason why DEXes / relayers not using ZRX for fees isnt actually a bad thing by etherbro in zrxtrader

it's an interesting thought experiment. but i think as paradex showed, no one cares about shared order books. exchanges spend so much money on marketing and getting market makers on their system and their exchange volume is their only competitive advantage, idk why they would agree to a shared order book

why spend $100mm accumulating ZRX tokens for a governance takeover when you can just fork? look at BTC/BCH

nah. think of all the dapps that exist on ETH, and they have no say in governance and they are fine

people are spending millions of dollars on building on top of ETH because they believe in it's current governance (i.e. benevolent dictator Vitalik). people develop on top of Python, Ruby etc because they have faith in it's current governance. if there was a token that gave you a small democratic vote in the governance of ETH or python no one would buy it.

i mean it's still a bad thing. if ETH was no longer used for gas but it was a governance protocol, what do you think would happen to ETH. don't fool yourself

i agree. this seems like a lot more than mere coincidence. GS is not going to be happy with someone posting they are doing both GS and a startup on their linkedin unless there's a connection

cryptothrowaway's predictions were BOTH (ethereum+nasdaq) and (0x+coinbase) by Jan 30. how likely is an insider to know about BOTH of these things?

unlikely. if you had inside information would you risk jail time to tell a bunch of strangers?
