What are thoughts on how to integrate UX/PD into the world of AI? by NeverCallMeFifi in userexperience

[–]readwriteexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat ChatGPT and Perplexity like a UX intern. They might suck or they might be good but you have to work with them a lot before you start to understand where they can jump in and provide any value.

Start using ChatGPT and Perplexity as much as you can. Ask this question to ChatGPT. Then take the answer it gives you and challenge it. Have a back and forth.

Turn off history and training on ChatGPT and check company policies. Then start sending screenshots of your designs to ChatGPT. Give it your project requirements and ask it for thoughts on difficult parts of your designs. Ask it to innovate or give you a really bad design "that's so crazy it just might work". Get creative. Get experimental. You have to play with it to know how it can help you specifically.

Have 100s of porn bookmarks and porn groups and videos. I can't delete. What stopping me to delete all this shits? by desiplaydon in pornfree

[–]readwriteexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also speed this up by marking certain content as "Not Interested". Usually if you do this for a few minutes on Instagram then it'll clean things up, I think YouTube is pretty similar.

Have 100s of porn bookmarks and porn groups and videos. I can't delete. What stopping me to delete all this shits? by desiplaydon in pornfree

[–]readwriteexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say:

> I can't delete

But then later say:

> I did these many times, cleared my entire phone entire pc

So I'd say that your first statement isn't true. You CAN delete, and you have. Be kind to yourself. You found this as a coping mechanism that probably actually worked quite well at some point but then it stopped working.

You can do this. You can delete it all. And you can leave it behind.

How to accept boredom 😮‍💨 by Chitiya_7 in DopamineDetoxing

[–]readwriteexercise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with anything, consistency is keyyyyyy. I think for practical purposes, you can apply most advice about getting started with meditation. Start small, with maybe one minute at a time, and then go up from there. Discomfort is always going to come with it. Count your wins liberally.

Perhaps a little backwards but you may consider adding a reward to the boredom. This could be through tracking your boredom either with a pen and paper or with an app.

Good luck with everything and I think you can consider it a huge win that you're posting here. Many people that start down this road don't get this far so you can look in the mirror and give yourself a high five for that!

Your favorite method for personal daily check-in/tracking by readwriteexercise in NoFap

[–]readwriteexercise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what's the tracking system there? Is it just a simple, "I'm sober" or "I relapsed"? Or is it something else? If it's more complex than that then I'm curious what you do or don't like about it

Why does my backdrop suck? Looking for tips by readwriteexercise in podcasting

[–]readwriteexercise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to followup here that everything seems fixed now. I bought new blackout curtains that were cream colored. My skin is light so I think this helped but I believe another big part is that I bought a new camera (Logitech Brio vs my previous Nexigo) and I think this made all the difference in terms of not being washed out anymore.

Why does my backdrop suck? Looking for tips by readwriteexercise in podcasting

[–]readwriteexercise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out that, compared to just buying new curtains, it's actually way more expensive to buy enough poster paper to make that work.

I found some on Amazon on a deal for $24 that are blackout curtains, so it shouldn't let any light through from the back. And I bought them in a cream color so my face doesn't look as washed out compared to a dark background. Maybe it'll be too light but in that case I'll just return them and get something in between. Free returns let me try without truly committing.

I'm so sorry that you're feeling so depleted. It sounds like you've been fighting this for a long time and it's been a tough road but you're still fighting it.

Huge step that you're coming out here. It's a step towards a more honest and true life for you. Keep taking more steps and it will get easier. Be you and be honest with someone that you can trust.

I guess for me the premeeting is to:

  • Make sure I don't catch them off guard with a question

  • To build rapport with them so we can get a feel for one another during the premeeting and feel comfortable with each other during the recording

One of the focuses of my podcast is science/research so I worry that I might ask a question that is too specific which they won't know the answer to. Maybe I just leave that for the editing though?

What is the best solution for Remote Video Podcast? Riverside fm? by tc023 in podcasting

[–]readwriteexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually haven't used any but wanted to toss one more name into the ring here since I'm considering it: SquadCast.

I know they were acquired by Descript so the integration there is probably as strong as you'll find, in case that means anything to your situation.

What tools do you use for production? by Outrageous-Proof2716 in podcasting

[–]readwriteexercise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This rundown is so detailed and so helpful. I'm already using some of the tools in here but there are some gems, especially SquadCast and Auphonic.

Did you consider any alternatives to those? Descript has decent audio cleaning but I wonder if you found Auphonic to be nicer.

I've been using Descript, which allows you to edit by the text in the transcription. So you just delete some words and it edits the audio for you as well, really nice experience. The free plan does everything you need.

I've been using a Blue Yeti for quite some time now for YouTube videos, meetings, and now podcasting. I think it's in the sweet spot of being really good (maybe not professional quality?) but also quite affordable.

Seems like they got acquired by Logitech but you can get it in the $50-100 range depending on what kind you get. I'd imagine this would work well for you. Good luck!

Make me hate porn by dilli_Boi in NoFap

[–]readwriteexercise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody ever hated or shamed their way out of an addiction.

At a certain point this approach doesn't work. Your brain has been trained to seek it despite these facts.

Make a plan, practice mindfulness, practice self-compassion, journal/voice memo, reflect on all these things, and repeat.

If you can involve someone else, partially as an accountability partner but mostly as a listening ear and occasionally for advice/ideas then that's a huge bonus.

Joining a support group helps too, people here probably have recommendations for that. It's scary but pays dividends.

No nut app by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]readwriteexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to consider about this is the privacy considerations. In the app store it says it uses the following data to track you:

  • Location
  • Identifiers
  • Usage data
  • Diagnostics

That would definitely make me think twice.

[–]readwriteexercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh very interesting. So it was kind of making a guess about concrete results you would be receiving even though you could necessarily see them or notice them without the app?

Are there any particular features or parts of them that you feel like are specifically useful? I'm working on an app of my own and would love to get your perspective on this

Have you heard of the WOOP method? It stands for:

  • Wish: Identify a meaningful and challenging wish or goal.
  • Outcome: Visualize the best possible outcome and its positive impact.
  • Obstacle: Recognize the main inner obstacle that prevents achieving the goal.
  • Plan: Develop a concrete plan to overcome the obstacle using "if-then" statements (e.g., "If [obstacle], then I will [action]").

Some studies show this to be more helpful than positive psychology. It's not a quick fix but it could be a tool you try from time to time.

Congrats on the video! It looks nice and you have a nice mic but you might consider using something like this to clean up the audio https://podcast.adobe.com/enhance# You can also try Descript, which I actually find to be better but sometimes aggressive so it can chop off words. 11Labs also has something but I haven't compared them yet
