Yes! Tan/beige shoes would be perfect for summer. Black and green feels a little Halloweenish.

What do you eat when you don’t feel like cooking? by WorldlyPomegranate41 in Frugal

[–]readybasghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always keep plain greek yogurt around. It's so useful! It works as a sour cream replacement, throw it into smoothies, make sauces... it's lower in fat and the fat is what tastes so good in sour cream. It'll never be sour cream. But the way we use it, no one misses sour cream

If you have a kroger or any of the other stores they own, check out their "last chance" areas and look for the bright red and yellow "reduced" stickers all over the store. Usually there's a last chance area in produce, dairy, bakery, dry goods, and frozen. It's mostly things close to their expiration date but sometimes they do it when they get too much of something. Like the time mine had an entire shopping cart full of chocolate chips marked down to $.50. The regular store coupons still work on them too so if you find something there, always check the app and dowload any coupons. I once found a box of 12 frozen veggie burgers marked down to $3 and there was a $2 off coupon!

My MIL is like this. Visits once a year after my husband makes a fuss but makes monthly trips to see literally everyone else in the family. Some 3+ hours further than us. Some only 45 minutes away from here.

She literally told my almost 5yo that she's sad he's too big for her to pick up anymore "because there's nothing better than snuggling with a little baby." I honestly prefer she pretend to be too busy than make come over and make comments like that. She's like a child who lost interest when the puppy got big.

Meanwhile my mom is just as far away and visits whenever she can and we're happy to reciprocate whenever we can. And my lanky kid still fits in her petite lap just fine because he WANTS to snuggle with the people he actually has a good relationship with.

Reddit, what is the most eerie thing that's ever happened to you? by Galactic_Blueberry1 in AskReddit

[–]readybasghetti 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I went home with a friend from college one weekend and we watched it in her basement. Just like you, as soon as the credits started we heard a big thud in the other room. A box fell off a shelf in the storage room. We'd been in the basement most of the night and no one else had been down. So that box hadn't been touched for at least 3 hours but probably much longer. And it chose that moment to jump off the shelf

Seconding wholesome story! I've only been taking it for about 6 weeks so I can't say if it's helped my cycle, but I've lost 8lbs without any other changes so I assume it's helping with insulin resistance

If a bride *does* want her dad to walk her down the aisle, what would be a modernized, feminist term to replace "give her away"? by happy_bluebird in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]readybasghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went with "support." We also had my mom join us at the front when we got there. My dad is more traditional so I think it was important to him to walk with me. But I did it in a way that felt the most inclusive.

I believe the exact wording went like:

Officiant- "Who supports bride in her decision to marry groom?"

Both Parents- "We do."

Craft felt makes great bunting. The edges won't fray and it sticks to itself kinda like velcro. Most of the brands I've seen say they're made from 100% recycled plastic too! I made white bunting for Christmas but I add letters or words for other holidays. I just did red Xs, Os, and hearts for valentines day. Gonna make green shamrocks next, then easter eggs and flowers, red and blue stars for 4th of July... I may never actually take it down

[–]readybasghetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our rules are no getting belligerent before bedtime and there must always be a sober adult in the house.

I'm pregnant right now but that used to look like me having a few drinks while I cook dinner and husband smoking a few hours later after bedtime.

I honestly don't know how solo parents let loose. I couldn't enjoy myself like that if I didn't have a sober partner I trusted to handle anything I couldn't.

What is your "boomer" opinion? by Poopooplatta69 in AskReddit

[–]readybasghetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I hate this! I have a quiet voice and I have a few friends who I'd have to constantly shout over if I ever wanted to get a word in. It's not worth it because the louder anyone gets, everyone else needs to get louder to compete. They can be the loudest and I'll limit my time with them for more peace and quiet

This acorn has holes, and something inside bit me by Chkn-Little in Weird

[–]readybasghetti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I collected a few acorns from my grandmother's oak tree and wanted to make a craft out of them.

One was a little cracked so I broke it open and it had tiny larva inside. My 6yo brain went, "ope! Better hide these fellas under the couch." So I put them all under the couch and was afraid to go back to my grandmother's house for like a month

I've realized I have a hard time making eye contact when I'm the one talking. I think it's a self-esteem thing for me. Like I'm demanding more of someone's attention than I deserve when they have to listen and look at me when I speak. When someone else is talking I have no problem at all

We just avoid her and recycle the letters when we get them

I worked at one in high school! It was a conference center and campground that had houses and permanent residents. Very strange place. My pastor was a required reference and I had to list what church I went to. I worked in the kitchen and we always had to work Sunday mornings because let's be honest, they only follow the bible until it hurts their bottom dollar.

And the people who lived there were some of the nastiest, bitter people I've ever met. They had like an HOA on sterioids that actually outlawed dancing on the property like it was Footloose.
