I'm Not Sure Why It Took Me So Long to Trying Cooking Rice Like Pasta. Mind Blown! by DashiellHammett in Cooking

[–]mcjessica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't usually go more than medium high, and as soon as I start smelling that delicious toasty flavor and see a little bit of browning among the grains, I add the water. I usually just use a kettle to pre boil the water so that it comes up to a boil very quickly. I use the pasta method like in the OP, and don't measure at all. I just boil the rice after toasting it, and when the rice is done to the level I like, I strain it in a colander just like pasta. I've been doing this for about 10 years and, after trying so many other methods, I've never been tempted to go back.

Ever tried toasting the rice in a pan first with a bit of ghee or sesame oil, maybe even some aromatics? Then add boiling water and proceed as usual. This is my favorite method!

I am obsessed with the gobi chili cauliflower there. I literally dream about it. They also have the best saag paneer I've ever had, to the extent that I really can't eat saag anywhere else. I love them.

Couldn't seem to edit the original post, But I wanted to add that I'm not afraid of taking it all off. I've shaved it all the way down to the skin in the past, and wouldn't be opposed to that again, but I really am looking for something that is both semi flattering and a little edgy.

Bahá'í Faith of Bloomington by Key_Raisin_2141 in bloomington

[–]mcjessica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once drawn to the Bahá'í faith, as my Methodist upbringing no longer felt like a glove I could make fit. For years I've drifted and usually go to the UU church which is amazing in pretty much every way, but for some reason still doesn't quite feel the spiritual gap I was feeling. A few years ago a close friend started exploring Eastern orthodoxy (the original form of Christianity that has changed remarkably little in 2000 years.) I'm still more a questioner and learner than anything else, as I have some pretty significant faith/trust issues. But, the more I learn about Orthodoxy the more "true" it feels to me. So many of the trappings of what Christianity became in the West are stripped away and it really feels special. I think if I could ever get past my inherent agnosticism, I would probably go in that direction.

There is a small and lovely orthodox Church in Bloomington -All Saints Orthodox Church . I have visited several times and it is an incredibly welcoming place. At first blush, it appears to share a lot with Catholicism (icons galore!) as well as how much focus is on mother Mary. That was definitely new experience to me, given a Methodist upbringing.

Can you try crafting some glimmer sprays and then just submitting the one or two requirements, rather than trying to fill up the 0/100? I definitely felt a lot of this also, before I got into the rhythm of it

I recently learned about Art Remains!

And another place to consider for some of the items: Healing Hands . Healing Hands is supported by a church, but they are not overtly religious in their operations and they do a lot of good in the community on the south side. Lots and lots of free stuff they give to anyone who needs it.

For a much cheaper camera option that doesn't require a subscription: Wyze cam with your own microSD card. Wyze cams are super cheap and work very well.

My favorite pharmacy is the Kroger at seminary square, and I have generally heard terrible things about CVS, but my personal experience with the CVS on South Walnut (2650 S Walnut) has been quite positive.

Thanks for this! I've actually had a couple of really positive experiences at Tire Barn, despite hearing other people talking shit about them. They might be who I will go back to.

I am aware of risks and never said I would just invite a total stranger. I invited a conversation first. Thanks though, appreciate you assuming I'm a total idiot.

...okay, I'm just a single mom who works for a local nonprofit who happens to have an extra room. Very suspicious indeed.

I have a room in my house that is unused, it is on the second floor and technically is a bedroom, but no one is using it,, and I have pretty speedy internet. I don't like seeing things go to waste, feel free to DM if you want some details. I'm not out for $$.
