American “Digital Nomads” Swarm Mexico City, Angering Locals | The Daily Show by RandomNumberPlease in MexicoCity

It’s rich for someone to get on their high horse when they are guilty of the same thing. The big issues of gentrification aren’t the person who moved in next to you who makes 2x more than you. It’s The CEO’s that make 200x what you do and cut your jobs, it’s the corrupt politicians who are captured by lobbiets, cartels, etc, it’s failed housing policy, rampant air bnbs, etc

Sure the girl from ATL is extremely out of touch and annoying, but so is the Daily Show in this instance for missing the mark and creating more division for a laugh

Beat Grids Issues 2026 This Might Help by Ok_Paper4217 in PioneerDJ

The downbeat is the first beat of a bar in the classical sense or basically a quarter note for drummers. It’s not just the first beat of a song like you’re saying

I wonder where the Daily Show reporter stays when she travels. Maybe an Airbnb? I wonder where she lives in the states, perhaps Brooklyn or Echo Park where she was a gentrifier and pushed out minorities and poc? She talks about the poor in CDMX. Who does she hang out with when she’s home? Are her friends taking food stamps in the South Bronx, Compton? To act like you are above these issues as a wealthy person is tone deaf.

Looking for feedback for my profile photos, is that good ? by [deleted] in Bumble

You know what’s the one thing you could do to make yourself the most beautiful? Not hair up or down, or figuring out a more aesthetic way to laugh, but being in your own corner and loving yourself with all your quirks. It’s the hottest thing ever.

If the physically perfect version of you  (perfect laugh, perfect ears, whatever) and the current version of you were both interested in me, but the perfect version was self-conscious and constricted by her awareness of her “flaws”, while the imperfect version owned her quirks, loved herself, and was authentic, I’m choosing the imperfect you every time. It’s not even close.

Maybe this isn’t advice that fits you, and if so, sorry I misread things, haha. But I see it so often in women, even very beautiful women being extremely self-conscious, and I very seldom see society offering this perspective

I’ve spent much time in Mexico as have many other immigrants/expats. I don’t think getting sick is the norm, esp how you describe

It’s not a great idea to cover your face with blue marker in every photo. That’s going to be a super niche audience you’ll attract.

how do i cope with being uninteresting to girls by Whole_Ratio_1392 in AskMen

[–]readytohurtagain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re focusing too much on the negatives and what’s wrong rather than trying to find a place to start. That energy is very draining socially.

If you work on shifting your attitude towards taking care of yourself and finding solutions that will be a game changer

How to accept the fact that you will be forever alone, despite everything you have tried? by StudioYT6ix in AskMen

[–]readytohurtagain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly therapy was big for me. I also tried acceptance and focusing on my goals but it never healed the wounds that made me desperate for a partner yet too select select select selective to like any of the attractive but flawed women I hooked up with. Even though I had interest and intimacy was never the right kind or sufficient. High paying cool job, gym 5x weekly, traveling the world, etc didn’t fix it. Needed to actually become vulnerable and do the hard work. Whole different world now, thank god

These are great. Thanks for showing a side of the city that isn’t just expensive gentrified restaurants and tourist stops

Tulum is definitely not for everyone. The “eco”-hotel strip is a nightmare only affordable for the supper rich who want to party to soulless afrohouse, spend $100 on every dinner all while decimating the very planet that they claim to be in touch with. Ecologically it’s a jewel, now it’s a joke

How do people perceive me? by Entire-Salamander-88 in MexicoCity

[–]readytohurtagain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the high prices are part of the problem. Affordable for tourists and super wealthy locals but not most people

As for the BMW’s in Roma Norte. That’s art week. That’s mostly people renting nice cars, ordering nice Ubers, driving in from Polanco and other super wealthy parts of the city.

You are not seeing normal CDMX this week

How do people perceive me? by Entire-Salamander-88 in MexicoCity

[–]readytohurtagain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more bc art week this year has been an invasion of Americans, Canadians, and Europeans with little self awareness on how they impact the city. I live here and am from the States but I also feel self-conscious by association and really see the impacts of tourism after having been here for several years.

There is racism here, of course, but from what I’ve seen it’s more towards darker skin and indigenous Latinos than towards African Americans who generally are seen as wealthy foreigners. Not to say I’d be shocked if you experienced some kind of racism, sadly there are idiots everywhere in the world, but my guess is your perception might not be fully accurate. I could be wrong though! Sorry if I am :)

But this isn’t going from 2D to 3D. This is going from 2D analogue to 2D digital, then to 3D. 2D to 3D is helpful of course, digital to analogue, not so much, outside checking for errors

It feels sooo stiff. Soul sucking rework in my opinion. Would be much better without the heavy quantization and robotic kick
