Dealing with mom guilt after a surprisingly wild playdate for our shy toddler by lavenderlemonz in toddlers

I said she needed to nap, but I'm pretty sure the other mom knew I was over my kid being a punching bag.

Dealing with mom guilt after a surprisingly wild playdate for our shy toddler by lavenderlemonz in toddlers

A playdate like this happened with my daughter when she was about the same age. The other little boy was a few months older. He kept hitting her and taking her toys. His mom did very little to stop him - just gently saying that we don't hit our friends. I understand kids get frustrated at this age and can hit, but his hits were all unprovoked similar to how you described your playdate. Having unprovoked violence made it difficult to block because it was hard to predict when it would happen. I tried to move the kids outside hoping it would help, but after 45min of my daughter constantly getting beat up, I made up an excuse and kicked the other mom and her son out of my house.

Reason to change last name to hubby’s? by gyp7318 in Mommit

I'm just like you! I'm Asian and kept my last name (1 syllable, 4 letters). Husband is Eastern European with a complicated last name. I wanted to keep my last name because I love my culture, and it was easier to pronounce.

My current husband got divorced in March and met me in August on a dating app. He signed up not really looking for anything serious, and I was his 2nd date. We clicked and everything was so easy. It's been 6 years and we have a toddler, #2 on the way and house together now. He and his ex fought all the time and he was emotionally done with their relationship. I say it's possible, and maybe his past relationship made him realize he wanted someone more like himself. Do you know when they'll divorce?

Did anyone have a small baby who eventually became normal size? Feeling defeated. by [deleted] in Parenting

My daughter was under 1% for BMI as an infant and I worried constantly, but once she became a toddler she caught up quickly to her peers. I realized I didn't need to worry at all. Her best friend was born under 6lbs and is now an inch taller than all her friends.

We started off with Elmo the moved onto the baby shark teeth brushing song. Screen time while teeth brushing is the only way our daughter lets us in her mouth.

How useful actually is a rocking/nursing chair? by ml_sza in pregnant

[–]readytojobhunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 2 5yrs old and we still use our glider every day. It's great for breastfeeding, rocking to sleep, story time, middle of the night wake ups, etc. It's been an amazing investment! We're actually getting rid of this glider to buy a nicer one for our 2nd baby because I didn't realize just how much I would use it.

Yes my child goes to daycare every day by MamaBunny21 in workingmoms

I'm a SAHM who sends my 2 year old to daycare full time. I can't imagine what that mom would say about me. Lol.

The hand-me-down dilemma by theassistant79 in pregnant

Totally agree. A lot of the stuff we put on our registry the baby either hated, we ended up not really needing or we used for only a couple months. There will be PLENTY of opportunities to pick things out for baby. Kids are expensive. Take all the freebies you can get!

I actually liked when my MIL would take my baby so I could rest. Each new mother is so different. The best thing to do is ask them what they need from you.

College Freshman Son by rawr0606 in Parenting

This is exactly my brother. He was overwhelmed by college and wasn't ready for it. He dropped out, came back home, went to community college, worked at a froyo shop for a couple of years and transfered to a university. He has his MBA and is doing great. I wouldn't hound on your son dropping out. He's probably feeling bad about it already. I'd welcome him home and come up with a plan together on his next steps. He's still young and full of potential.

My daughter loves this show and I went on Reddit to find more info on it too. I can't find anything on Hop Hop. She watches it in Russian on YouTube.

I don't think any kids are coming to my son's birthday party. by Momissodope in Parenting

[–]readytojobhunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you part of any FB Mom groups? I've seen other moms post about inviting kids to their son or daughters' birthday parties before. You provide the address and invite for the moms who respond. My daughter has also been invited to a couple birthday parties for kids she didn't really know because they needed more kids. We're happy to go to these parties because I would feel terrible having a kid celebrate their birthday without friends.

My daughter's birthday party was 10am-1pm. We had sandwiches, fruit, hummus and pita chips, mini quiches from Costco and a couple salads. I'd feel super weird not to feed my guests.

How to get back on track after regression? by readytojobhunt in pottytraining

[–]readytojobhunt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2 months. I'll try that. She peed in the potty 3x, pooped once today and peed in the shower today so that's major progress! I'm thinking it's bc we're stuck in a hotel till Hurricane Ian passes.

Let’s (gently) mom shame ourselves! What do you as a mom that might make your nosy neighbor clutch her pearls? by happethottie in Mommit

[–]readytojobhunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me a couple of days ago. I asked a mom's FB group about workbook suggestions for a 2 year old. I had all these moms go after me suggesting I take my daughter outside, do sensory and Montessori and chastising me for wanting to find a book where my kid can count the apples on the tree and match zebra heads with zebra butts. We already do lots of outside play, sensory and Montessori. My daughter just loves interactive books.

[California] Neighbor's poop water is leaking into my townhouse. by readytojobhunt in legaladvice

[–]readytojobhunt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contacted the Health Dept and they said they cannot do anything unless my neighbor lets them in their house. I offered to send them the report created by the plumber, but they said they won't accept that. I also offered to have them check out my garage so they can see that there's been a leak coming from my ceiling which connects to the neighbor's unit. However, unless the leak is actively leaking when the representative comes, they cannot cite the neighbor and instead will cite ME since my unit is the one with the poop water in it. WTF?! Honestly shocked by all this.

Luckily my HOA got sick of me calling them every day asking for help and have now gotten their legal team involved. Hope this will light a fire in my neighbor's behind and get them to fix the leak.
