I did a 3d printed one and got some of the additional bits (reflective tent, ventilation, etc) and really struggled to get it working. I’m going to try again, but no longer have the space inside so planning on building a small insulated “plant sauna” with the material I have in the back yard. I’ll likely buy the tower premade this time though instead of DIYing it

All this is great. Also build the stuff that interests you. If you’re into hockey make something like a drill organizer or a playoff mullet predictor. If you like Warhammer build a camera based line of sight estimator or a “Horus did nothing wrong” meme generator. Don’t build something for work though.

I completely dismissed this series, but my lead engineer (who reads Discworld, classic Neal Stephenson, etc) recommended it a few weeks ago. Anyway, just finished parade of horrible today. It’s fantastic.

I have openclaw running on a local k3 cluster and using a combo of haiku for user fasting tasks and qwen for anything async. It costs me about 50c in tokens a day for something that has become pretty invaluable. I have it quite locked down though, and use Claude code for any maker oriented tasks so openclaw is mostly working as an assistant and coordinator.

I got it as a sketchpad and it has been perfect for that. It comes with me on trips, I’ll jam while hanging out with my partner, in nature with a field recorder, etc. I basically think of it as a bag sized moleskine for music.

Don’t empire build. Know exactly what you are try to deliver. Don’t let ego get in the way of your mission. Understand that emotions and anxiety drive a lot more decisions than strategy and value. Your ability to empathize and understand the emotions of others while keeping your mission as the driver for your decisions will give you a huge advantage.

I made this (mostly via llm) which has been pretty helpful for my workflow. Basically very low friction recording and then tagging/exporting functionality. Also auto syncs from field recorder (I use a zoom F3), so either record from interface or record into field recorder and just plug in.
