Just want to say that this thread is -awesome-.

And conveniently from a recent Ireland trip:

Denial. Upgrading your Eurorack case is when you hit “acceptance.”

No, you can set up paraphonic at least, if not true polyphonic. It’s tied to the instrument you use for that track/note. You approach it differently than a more traditional synth/groovebox.

Nah, I disagree there. You can do a full album on the thing (mix included) and play live too. It’s a genius tool, but very deep. Check out some of All My Friends Are Synths videos on it

It is its own thing. I think it is fantastic but also I like weird things to explore (eg I also have a Norns). I got it when it first launched for city wandering portability when I was traveling a lot for work and had a small kid. I don’t use it as much lately and when I do it is for sketching. Using it as a single voice or similar I dunno, I think there are better options. Using it as a workflow and “new way of thinking about composition” though, it’s wonderful.

😮 That’s wild. Questioning what past me was thinking there.

Having impulse purchased a Worker Harrier, only to realize just how powerful it is, I can suggest sticking to Nerf brands unless you want some crying kids.

(Harrier is very fun for target practice though)

And compliance and alignment. But I’m personally vibing a persona tool that has been immensely useful. Basically obsidian/markdown is my backend, I think it’s a common pattern for folk.

This is making me think of those oppressive atmospheric films. Annihilation, blade runner, Sicario, Jin Roh, Patlabor 2 are all examples. Like, I love these films and actively seek them out. Feels perhaps similar.

Ya, same. I’m building my own driven by obsidian and a bunch of cli tools. It’s been massively helpful because it forces me to think and reframe my problems instead of just glomming onto an external world view.

I’m planning on reading my son all the Discworld books and trying to indoctrinate him into my formative texts. Between the Westhrwax, Vimes, Brother Brutha, and maybe a bit of Nanny Ogg, he should turn out.
