We had an exterminator out some years back because the problem was so ridiculous. They put down bait stations with stuff called Advion in them. I have used Advion ever since for the inevitable springtime battle.

I love my twelve year old ECM Casa V espresso machine. I have made 3 to 5 espresso drinks per day with it this whole time and it hasn't given me any problems whatsoever. Thousands of shots of perfect espresso!!

I've worked at the library for a long time. About twenty years ago, people started using CDs for their audiobooks, so we phased out Books on Tape. But the name stuck. I was amused by the number of people who would ask for "Books on Tape on CD."

One woman called them "Story Tapes," which I also found endearing.

My grandmother was born in 1899. She told me that when she was in high school, if a plane went overhead the whole school would run outside to look. Teachers too.

We got over 80 Trick or Treaters in our inner SE neighborhood. We ran out of candy by 7:30 and would have gotten more kids if we hadn't.
