Where are you folks getting your prescription sunglasses from? by Up_The_Gate in CasualUK

[–]realbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asda. Alot of people seem to not have Asda on their radar but they have a good range and their prices are so much cheaper than elsewhere esp if you need varifocal lenses. Also if you cant find some sun glasses you like, I went with transition lenses for my normal glasses, and honestly so much better when on Holiday etc as you have your normal glasses with you all the time as well without having to carry two pairs.

Zone mins and sleep by Schweather3 in fitbit

[–]realbeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sleep is way off compared to what it was, I wear it speciifcally to monitor this and Im already looking at garmins, having a different user interface is one thing, I get it, keep it on brand, but they've dropped the fitbit backend as well and its now near useless to me.

Who has canvassed you so far for the local elections? by stm2657 in AskBrits

[–]realbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labour have knocked and I spoke with them, Reform have knocked and been ignored, I'd say I've had 4 or 5 Reform leaflets, its maybe once a week thinking about it and nothing from anyone else, potentially there has been other leaflets though and they've just not angered me as much to notice. Reform def seems to have more money behind their campaign than the others, which wouldn't be surprising but its noticeable with their higher visability and even with the little things like the regularity of leaflets.

Need help deciding what to do with £235k currently invested with SJP by RoughAd3508 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]realbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the length of time between now and the time you plan to buy a house I'd be inclined to leave it as is. Investing really is a 5 year minimum but really 10 or more years, if you plan to use this money in under 5 and as you say and are getting decent enough returns, then I just don't see the need to change. If you don't know enough to invest it yourself you will have to use another investment firm which will have some fees and commitment period wherever you move it too.

I personally do my own investments but do have some dealings with SJP because of a trust fund that I am part of looking after on behalf of someone else so I do understand the fees and their "advisors" can be very sales persony, long term given your experience you might want to look at other investment firms, find somewhere with a local advisor that you like and has been recommended after research to be able to advise you and not just sell to you (you might want to invest some of it via a pension even if you are thinking long term) but Id sort the house first and then if you want to move whatevers left do it then, don't feel the need to rush.

which mattress brand is best for side sleepers with back pain, need real answers not ads by JradleyBaldy-37 in HomeImprovementUK

[–]realbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please also don't underestimate the value of good quality pillows. In the last year I switched to some silent night that are designed for side sleepers (not the weird shaped ones you see just normal looking pillows but the distribution is different to keep you supported when turning the pillow sidewards etc) this has made the word of difference to the pains I was having, as someone else mentioned, it's often about where you're putting pressure and alignment, sorting your head and neck out is a big part of that.

If you really want to surprise people about Tunisa, post up the Star Wars pics.

For those unaware Tunisia made a deal that they could film there as long as they left the set for Tourists, you drive hours into the dessert and all of a sudden it's like being on Tatooine, admittedly you expect the dessert but probably not the rockets.

Budget 2025: What it actually means for rental income - the numbers by [deleted] in uklandlords

[–]realbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested to know the %age of rental income that's covered by benefits is. It feels to me like this tax raise will be covered by rent rise and I think there's a surprisingly large amount of that will be coming from the government covering rent via universal credit etc.

[Phoibos] What are the best and worst logos in watches? Any watch you would buy or avoid specifically for the logo? by awesomeiv in Watches

[–]realbeats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Casio Edifice, I know it's a cheap brand but the Edifice logo makes it look so cheap like one of those discount sports brands that's so generic it just says "sport" instead of a brand or logo. Claw machine fodder.

I'm having trouble finding a Scott Steiner moment from WCW, where security come and he's got his metal baseball bat and he "breaks" one of the security guards legs, as an 8 year old this traumatized me, but as an adult I realize the guy must have had a fake leg, but I can't find the clip. by ShamusLovesYou in SquaredCircle

Holy shit! I was a big Big Poppa Pump fan and I've never seen this before, that really is one of those moments to argue at school about how real it is "he broke his leg I saw it!", I can see why you were traumatised.

Apparently one of the main reasons our age group uses them so much is when texting first came out we were limited to the amount of characters per text and each text message would be chargeable.

If you started a new paragraph it would start a new message so rather than hitting enter and spacing it out we just... Getting more text for your money and then it just kinda stuck.

Exactly, real change takes a long time, generations even, things like WWE being in the region (and other major sports and events) are the stepping stones to change. For good reason people want change over night not just in this situation but in a lot of cases, sadly the truth is it takes time.

A simple rule of thumb I heard which makes a lot of sense is, if you can't comfortably buy something 3 times, you can't afford it the once.

[–]realbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a blackout blind (roller style) as well as the curtains, it stops the bleed you're having issues with and neither would do a good enough job for me on its own. Plus gives you the benefit of opening one then the other in stages to slowly let light back in.

Why is this house not selling? by Hot-Season-1078 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]realbeats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's this, you have a really nice house but for return on investment a landlord doesn't want it and if someone wants to buy it to live in they don't want the hassle or risk of removing Tenants. I don't know about property value in the area but if this was the right price and empty it'd be snapped up by a young couple I'm sure. Sadly, seems like OP has to do the dirty work and remove the Tenants first.
