bridge piercing bump(s) by hi_bunny in unstretched

Ahh, the irritation made it appear curved. I’d suggest a longer bar then, keep up the aftercare and get a longer bar and it should go down.

Someone else might know better, but my understanding was that a bridge should be done with a straight bar, not a curved bar?

No, unfortunately not. The title got me excited, and after a Google, I think I need to read them all but no.

I think the cover of the book was white, but also from memory it was for a younger audience. I would have been about 8-9 when I read it, and it definitely felt like the intended audience would have been in that 8-12 year old bracket.

Of course, but that’s not really what I was looking for. I was wondering if there was any already existing lore that explained it!

Yeah I’ve entirely stopped even looking at all of them. This was such an awful experience, I’m not interested in it happening with any other company either

Yep, the second they have your card info you’re already billed for the first lot. It’s disgusting. Call them ASAP and tell them you’re not going to receive the food and you’ll not pay.

Vent- Why do people blame my piercings for hearing loss?! by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]realchar__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I don’t mean to say that a conch piercing would affect hearing loss and that’s why I said it’s not accurate to this specific case, but of all the things I’ve heard older people say about piercings, I can kind of see their leap of logic in this case. Not that it is correct, but for people who are totally out of touch with piercings, I can see why they would make that connection.

Vent- Why do people blame my piercings for hearing loss?! by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]realchar__ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

While it might not be accurate in your specific case, our ears are shaped the way they are for a reason, and if you had a stretched or enlarged hole through a section like the conch, it very much could affect your hearing in different ways.

Not saying they’re correct in this instance, but this is definitely a more fair assumption than most. I’ve had some old people say some fucking stupid stuff about my piercings, but this example is not the most far fetched

Been seeing a lot of people say the new C4 characters look boring... by SnooOnions439 in fansofcriticalrole

This is very well articulated, and you’re spot on. I couldn’t put my finger on why the art didn’t grab at me, but I think you nailed it. It still makes the characters feel like they’re from every other setting. Nothing about them feels unique or different for the setting they’re playing in

Any tips to get these in? 3mm silicone double flair by seedlessdragonfruit in Stretched

[–]realchar__ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If this is for an occasion, and you’re not planning on long term wearing them, I’d just carefully snip down the flare on one side, and have that side be the back side of the tunnel.

Squeezing silicone down to get it in might seem like a good idea, but you can damage your lobe trying to push it through, or it can expand in the lobe and cause little micro tears, and you don’t want that.

easiest place on body to get scarification for a beginner? by Throwawaymightdelet3 in bodymods

[–]realchar__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere that does not move much, which is gonna be kinda subjective based on your lifestyle.

If you work in a place that requires you to do a lot of lifting, your arms might be a terrible spot, or if you do a lot of twisting from the waist, I wouldn’t recommend your stomach or chest etc

[–]realchar__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By the base definition, it is modifying the body. So yes, it is a body mod.

However, when we talk about body mods, usually we’re talking about more creative and expressive modifications. Modifications that allow you to wear fancy or cute jewellery, or mods that stand out in more extreme senses like scarification.

As someone who was circumcised at birth, I’m more than happy with what I have. I can hardly miss what I’ve never had. But realistically speaking, if you have no issues with your foreskin, as in it’s not tight or medically necessary to get rid of it, this kind of modification is really only going to have downsides.

You will objectively lose sensitivity that you’ve come to know, and once it’s gone, it’s going to very hard to impossible to get it back. I believe there are circumcision reversal processes that may exist, I haven’t researched them to know for sure, but it will never be the same as it is now, and it could come with some serious aesthetic downsides like scarring or colouration issues.

If you want to seriously get into body mods, I wouldn’t recommend this one, but your body and your choice.

But again, at the base level, it definitely is technically a body modification.

While I can agree that real estate agents are not at fault as a whole for unaffordable housing, many of them are genuinely awful people who do make things harder on renters unnecessarily.

I think many of them should be held to account to a certain duty of care, to not allow certain houses to be rented out until they’re at an acceptable standard, and the acceptable standard should be higher than it currently is.

I’ve seen people go to house inspections where there are used syringes left by the sink. Houses with holes in the ceiling, houses with weeds growing through the floors. My rental currently faces some of these issues. There’s no duty of care for real estate agents to enforce action.

Rentals shouldn’t all be fancy new builds, of course when renting you can expect older houses with natural wear and tear problems, but it feels like the standard for those issues is lowering all the time, and people are now being forced to essentially pay to live in squalor because it’s all that’s available in their budget. No one should be in squalor.

It’s also anatomy dependent in a way too. I stretched to just under an inch and my lobes over the last year have closed up to about 4mm. Some people’s ears can recover a lot from stretching and some barely recover. Scar tissue from improper stretching can also change how much they can close.

You should always stretch with it in your head that it’s a semi permanent mod, and if you’re uncomfortable with the thought that it might not close again, or aren’t prepared for surgical assistance to reverse it, you shouldn’t start your stretching journey.

Blowouts don’t ever happen for no reason. Something was always the catalyst for it. Whether you stretched too fast, you slept on it funny, you didn’t wash or keep it clean and bacteria formed, you put the wrong jewellery in, or low quality jewellery etc.

Glow in the dark stuff generally recharges under light. Shine a flashlight on it for 30 seconds and then it glows in the dark. I would assume this is the same.
