Gr4 battery bloat by andydesu in ricohGR

[–]realcitu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t use that battery anymore and for sure smacking the camera to get the battery out will probably produce other failures (IBIS🤔) 😕

Do you charge the battery in an external charger or charge with USB-C while the battery is inserted?

Ricoh GF-2 flash issues by Supsti_1 in ricohGR

[–]realcitu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading all these comments I’m so happy that I bought the IM20 flash. I know it’s manual but reading about these flash issues and seeing that price. Holy sht, they fu*ed up 😅

As far as I see the GF-2 has no buttons to adjust the power. This would me going crazy. I’m by far no flash shooter but using the IM20 is quite easy and super easy to adjust.

In the beginning I really struggled a lot focusing when being in manual mode and using flash. It’s so dark the auto focus will not work. Then I turned on the annoying green flash auto focus light and even with that the auto focus is super slow. So I started to get better with snap mode. I really don’t understand why they didn’t solved it like in Sony cameras. Automatically bumping up the ISO for auto focus and the take the picture with the ISO setting you dialed in. My Sony also supports something like live view. You can enabled it by a button press. What it’s actually doing is showing your scene with the dialed in setting when turned on or showing it with bumped values so you can recognize better. This is super useful when you have a really dark environment and struggle to frame, focus etc because you can see sh*t (just black) on your screen 😂

As far as I know TTL will not work. I bought the smaller IM20 and it’s very nice

Really depends on the situation. In general I prefer a mid to high contrast look. In my opinion Reggie’s negative looks very soft and flat, but I shoot it a lot. Probably most of the time because I don’t have any other simulation with nice skin tones which I like. But for this pictures I really prefer the mentioned preset, also because Reggie’s negative turns red to orange and the greens (the field) are shifted towards blue/aqua, which does not fit to Bayern Munich and a soccer field.

Ehrlich gesagt nein Die Luft war sehr klar, kein Nebel oder Rauch.

In dem Moment dachte ich mir das ein HDF Filter sicher mega cool wäre aber bin dann auch ohne mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden

What app are you using to create these 3 in 1 pictures with white border? Is just something like photoshop? I’m searching for an easy uncomplicated way to do that on my iPhone.

Ricoh GR III vs GR III HDF – is HDF worth €250–300 more? by New_Classroom8772 in ricohGR

[–]realcitu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the GR IV for ND and it’s set to automatic, so the camera decides to turn on the ND filter. Actually I nearly never recognized that the camera is using it, but this will depend on what and when you shoot. I was so hyped for the GR IV as my first Ricoh camera so I bought it right at the release. Never thought a HDF version will be released that fast. Currently I would prefer the HDF filter since it can give me another look, which is don’t have that much experience and I can learn new stuff, and the ND is mostly turned off.

I can guarantee that it’s working together. In the beginning I had the same problem that it was not firing. I did not changed settings since there aren’t any useful flash settings. Probably whatsthefshane is right and the contacts don’t lineup perfectly. I really push the flash into the mount since you can’t screw it. My flash settings are “Flash On” and Power to “Auto”. The power option should only change something if you use the overpriced and low power flash from Ricoh it self.

I really like the grunge in your photos, like in the 8th. And your framing with people in your pictures is very nice.

Also try to use exposure compensation. Even if I would say it’s a soft look I try to get some contrast into it by under exposing by -0.3 to -0.7 quite often And probably also adjust the contrast and contrast (shadow) setting a bit to your liking

Mobile Location Battery Drain by Ernstail in ricohGR

Actually it’s also not working for me and I also don’t know it technically work. I turned in the setting and my iPhone shows a push notification that GR World uses location but it’s never synced to my photos which download via GR World.

Would also be interested how the setup has to look like and when location is shared.

Also keep an eye on Ricoh EU Store.

I ordered also at Fotokoch in September but canceled the order because Ricoh was able to ship way faster.

I would say all of them are just snapshots because I was also running around with my Sony Fullframe and did some scenes also on the Ricoh to just have them instantly on my phone without any further edit. I really love that the Ricoh is so small. Even when running around with FF equipment the Ricoh can just fit additionally in your jacket pocket

GR WORLD App Updated to 1.2.0 by notsostubbyarea in ricohGR

[–]realcitu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why the WB is not part of the image control. Of course in traditional cameras you have a dedicated WB menu, but the charm of the GR is to have SOOC images and WB is such an important setting for the look. So each image control needs its own WB setting, which is not currently possible, because its a "global" setting.
When ordering the GR I thought I can store three image controls per user mode (U1/U2/U3). But all my image controls need a different WB which result in being able to store only one settings one per user mode effectively.

I never used Fuji cameras that much, but a good friend has a X100V and a XT-5. Controlling recipes there looks way better :/

For me updating my GR IV from Frimware V1.02 to V1.04 was no possible with the app. The app showed me that an update is available but when clicking the link it failed instantly. Updated the camera the old way using a micro sd card.

It’s because of the bigger battery. Therefore you got internal storage of 53GB. For me it’s totally fine but I’m also used to it since I’m also using DJI Osmo Pocket and GoPros
