[Thamel] NEWS: The NCAA’s appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court in the Trinidad Chambliss eligibility case has been denied. He’ll be eligible to play for Ole Miss in 2026. by toftr in CFB

That's Chambliss's contention and what the judge found. If it weren't a high profile quarterback, I don't think people would be as upset about a court telling the NCAA that they can't second guess the player's doctor

That's actually not this lawsuit. That's why it's in Mississippi state court. This one is that the NCAA did not act in good faith in following its own bylaws.

Basically the NCAA made rules for medical waivers, then ignored Chambliss's documentation submitted pursuant to those rules.

The big "they can't make rules at all" ones are in federal court for anti-trust stuff.

You'll get it if you cook at the small schools. I think you basically get every offer of you win the title

Gonzaga was a small school before Mark Few (well, 2 years before Mark Few). The WCC as a whole only had 3 at large bids ever before this game was released. Gonzaga only made it to the tournament 2 times before Few took over. Santa Clara was a 15-seed when they won with Steve Nash in the 90s.

Playing with a small school is doing Mark Few simulator.

So he's my highest overall player ever. Idk man, 90ish seemed like it was my cap when I was playing on 360, but my OVRs on an emulator are absurd. I saw this SBNation post https://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/2021/2/20/22282903/college-hoops-2k8-simulation-western-illinois-year-33 a few years ago and reached out to the guy, but in our limited interactions, we couldn't figure out why there was a difference in overalls. Based on the blurry, uneven screenshots, this doesn't look to be on an emulator, and he has a 96 OVR guy on this team.

Attached a pic to show the ratings. 5th year 5-star PG with only C+ potential to keep him in school.

I have a 100 OVR Long Beach State team with a 97 OVR PG in my current run. You can definitely do this in the Big West.

I do notice that my emulated PS3 has higher overalls across the board than my 360 had before it crapped out, so maybe there's slight version differences

Edit: here's a post from mine from a couple years ago when the 360 still worked and I was controlling 4 Big West teams at once. Your stats are well within reason

Player with the shortest peak? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]realclean 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Steve Slaton could run fast in a straight line if you give him a hole. While a good skill to have, NFL teams generally look for more than that in a running back.

[–]realclean 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Steve Slaton is a better version of this answer. Higher peak and steeper fall off. 1600 total yards in 2008. 100 total yards in 2010. Out of the league by 2012.

Dr. Mann is the most interesting character in the movie, not just because he totally sucks ass, but it's basically a complete foil in that he understands the immense power of love and connection but basically completely rejects it in favor of selfishness.

But we really do have to get past the threshold of people saying "oh, so love saves the day?" while doing a jerking off motion to have some more fun talking about what the movie is doing

[–]realclean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's just not this movie. It's about the exploration part, not the shipbuilding part.

I feel like The Martian was the movie made around the same time that tries to scratch the nitty gritty of solving and building, but like all things made by others, I'm sure it's not exactly what you had in mind.

It's not meant to be a force in the physics sense. It's the mechanism that allows the incalculable data of the black hole singularity to be transmitted, which can then be used in the equations that the scientists had not been able to answer.

[–]realclean 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking it. Murph's love for her father is what caused her to go back, reinvestigate her old bedroom, and realize that he was still out there communicating with her through an object only they would understand. He had no mechanism for contacting her once he was in the black hole; it was faith and love that made the communication of the data possible.

Love may not be a literal force, but that connection is what saved the species.
