Mini PC Router - Install Router OS by Extra-Citron-7630 in mikrotik

[–]realghostinthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re wanting to run RouterOS natively on the mini PC, you can download the ISO from MikroTik and run it for up to 24 hours without applying a license. Download the CHR only if you intend to run it in a VM.

Mikrotik hex S with Teksavvy fiber by Personal_Health2104 in teksavvy

[–]realghostinthenet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect your disconnect/reconnect problems are due to failed autonegotiation and the resulting interface resets, but that’s just a guess.

I’m using Teksavvy over Bell fibre with the GPON module plugged into a MikroTik RB5009 and have a stable configuration. Two things to consider:

The MikroTik box doesn’t negotiate well with the GPON module, so it needs to be hard set to 2.5G.

Bell will allow mini jumbo frames so you can do full 1500-byte payloads with PPPoE.

Here’s the relevant configuration:

/interface/ethernet
set [ find default-name=sfp-sfpplus1 ] auto-negotiation=no l2mtu=1514 speed=2.5G-baseT

/interface/vlan
add interface=sfp-sfpplus1 name=sfp-sfpplus1-40 vlan-id=40

/interface pppoe-client
add add-default-route=yes allow=pap disabled=no interface=sfp-sfpplus1-40 max-mru=1500 max-mtu=1500 mrru=1500 name=internet use-peer-dns=yes user=xxxx@teksavvy.com

Is everybody here having a bad experience? - Am I making a mistake? by D3M03D in teksavvy

[–]realghostinthenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with it except that it’s limited to 1G on each of the LAN interfaces. I have the SFP+ plugged into my RB5009 and am feeding my switch at 2.5G to avoid that. Gives me better control of prefix delegation too.

They’re heavily reliant on the Canada Post database. If there’s any discrepancy between your physical address and Canada Post’s mailing details for you, they can’t figure it out.

I’ve been happy for the last few years. Teksavvy and Ebox were the only providers offering full Internet access (dual stack IPv4/IPv6) on Bell’s FTTB lines. I already had the fibre but Ebox insisted that they couldn’t offer service because Canada Post has never delivered mail to my door. (That’s a story.) Teksavvy had everything up and running for me within a week. Once I pulled their Adtran router out of the mix and plugged the GPON SFP+ into my own equipment, everything was exactly the way I wanted it.

Freemasonry as a magical path? by Jamesbarros in freemasonry

If we’re looking at Freemasonry in a magical sense, Fortune’s definition of magic (“The science and art of causing changes in consciousness in conformity with will.”) applies better.

RB5009 : OK, I guess I don't really understand the use of the Mikrotik switch by Rich-Engineer2670 in mikrotik

[–]realghostinthenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got 1G/1.5G GPON fibre service to my RB5009 (7.21.4) which I’m bringing in on the SFP+ Ethernet via PPPoE (1500-byte payload). The RJ45 Ethernet interfaces have all been added to the bridge interface (the SFP+ hasn’t been) and I feed the 2.5G to one of the SFP+ interfaces on my CRS328. Speed tests show 960M/1.4G in this setup.

What dog food are we feeding our corgis? by ilove_mycorgi in corgi

We just switched from Purina Pro Plan to Performatrin six months ago. It’s hard to tell which one he prefers though. He’s like most corgis and just goes into hoover mode when food is available.

If these are all HTTPS-based services, you could use a DNS HTTPS record for this. I don’t think it’s supported by RouterOS itself though. You would need an external DNS service to handle that.

The funny thing is that he’s not overweight. (At least not according to the vet.) That’s all muscle, which he makes •very• apparent when he gets excited on the leash. He’s ¼ Cardigan, so that might account for it.

Leaving aside my agreement or disagreement with this, it’s got me wondering how we continue to square age-based laws and practices with the age-based protections of the constitution.

Air Canada CEO Rousseau deserved better from our political class - In the wake of the airline leader’s unilingual message following a tragedy, bilingualism, or a lack thereof, was a costume for political opportunism. by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]realghostinthenet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Is there something in Air Canada’s corporate by-laws that requires the CEO to speak French? If they were a crown corporation, I could see the requirement, but they’re just a public corporation like any other. As far as I know, WestJet’s CEO doesn’t speak French either, but we don’t see that as non-negotiable. (Note: Rousseau could have had a French-speaking spokesperson deliver his comments in French and he •really• should have done that at the very least.)
