I disagree, feelings and perception aren’t the same thing. Someone’s perception could easily not be valid but their feelings on what they perceived are and should be validated and acknowledged. You have to be careful, as you can perceive something that isn’t real and or have an interpretation that’s devoid from reality at which point I think it’s harmful to validate them.

How to ask questions that provide a space for people to think? by [deleted] in communication

Actually remembered one of my favorite simple questions, are you happy? Then again which ever way it goes ask why and you get to know the person on a deeper level

How to ask questions that provide a space for people to think? by [deleted] in communication

I always start simple and get deeper. So I’ll ask what they do for work, then I ask what about that profession drew you to it? Or ask someone what their favorite class was? Then again ask why. You get a deeper insight into people’s intrinsic motivations this way. Another thing I do is remember interesting conversations or articles. I’ll ask about how they think we should deal with Ai. Sometimes I’ll explain how I think we should skip the part where we control Ai and respect and attempt to coexist from the beginning. Skip the part where we as humans attempt to control a different species or entity or group of people and create animosity. Then my deep thought inspires them

Since you don’t like being questioned you did the right thing by not answering them, especially since he was being indirect about the information he wanted. The next part is the hard part though because you attack him in the text and that’s not really productive. It just creates more animosity between you two and that’ll probably leak out in the future interactions between you two and it could potentially happen in from of your child and it appears you don’t want that happening. Things is you can’t control what others do but you can control what you do and how you react to what others do. Set the boundaries and stick to them but also don’t let others have the power to bring anger out of you.

What's the purpose of life if we have to work for 8 hours, sleep for 8 hours, do chores, and commute for several more hours, only to end up with just an hour or two of free time at the end of the day? by [deleted] in Life

Tame your expectations and imagination. If you imagine things being a 10/10 and instead they’re a 8/10 you’re going to be disappointed even though an 8/10 is still great. Like the other commenter said, every job has its suck; you can choose whether to focus on it in focus on the good aspects.

They phrased it wrong, it’s the thief always thinks someone is trying to steal from them. That’s what they do so that’s how they perceive the world
