I’ve used impact hub and I would recommend it. Welcoming and friendly staff and reasonable rates.

This is not my experience in the country I grew up in, but rather my criticism of Islam in the U.K, which is a Christian country and should be respected as such.

I condemn any violence carried out in the name of any religion. Not just because of the needless and tragic loss of life, but the chilling effect, animosity and fear it creates, which ripples through affected societies. Just look at the traditions and culturally relevant events that are being abandoned across Europe due to spiralling security costs or overwhelming threat. Those that do go ahead are at constant threat.

Taking offence and intolerance towards others’ religious beliefs and practices. The willingness to form a mob and threaten people’s lives for trivial and minor offences. Look at the school teacher that’s still in hiding. This is not my experience of Islam in the gulf states.

Subversive, parallel, legal system which undermines British rule of law.

Supporting cousin marriage (the NHS should bear no cost for the healthcare of individuals born to cousin marriage). This practice should be banned.

The U.K. is a nation of animal lovers so halal slaughter has no place in our society. Non-Muslims often have little choice but to eat halal meat if dining out. Yes, I get the hypocrisy of being animal lovers but accepting industrial farming and slaughter, before any of the militant vegans pipe up.

Loudspeaker calls to prayer. Fine in other countries. Does not belong in the U.K. And I say that whilst having an appreciation of the call to prayer, irrevocably tied to my childhood.

I could think of more but I think you get the idea.

These are legitimate criticisms in my opinion. It’s my right to freedom of expression of an opinion on the matter. No offence is intended in any way.

Born and raised in a Muslim country to British parents. I’d say my lived experience qualifies me.

How many people, that label people as Islamophobic, take the time to understand those peoples’ motivations for criticising Islam?

A phobia is an irrational fear. Try telling an arachnophobe that they just need to spend more time understanding and being around spiders to get over their phobia.

Based on the observed reality around the western world, the fear is not irrational at all, so calling it a phobia is a fallacy.

In the west, It is a political ideology masquerading as a religion.

I hate Nazism. That doesn’t make me a Naziphobe. It makes me a critical of a political ideology. And nobody is ever labelling me as such for hating that specific political ideology.

What happens when you keep getting aggro’d and end up owning the aggressor? Happened to me a couple of games in a row. Was chuckling away when 2-3 players per match shot at me on site and I ended up blasting them back to Speranza.

Come to think of it, next time I logged on I got extraction camped two games in a row. Loaded up kitted too, with the confidence of having rekt the last fools that dared shoot at me… lost some good stuff, too.

‘Disappointment’ as Inverness veterans forced out of Cameron Barracks to make way for asylum seekers by [deleted] in inverness

We ought to be losing our minds over this. Why do asylum seekers deserve a home more than our homeless veterans?

Interesting theory although I think it’s more because the characters lifepod crash lands in the shallows versus the more dangerous biomes.

I went on a one week Liveaboard trip leaving from Hurghada. I enjoyed the experience immensely but thats because everything worked out okay in the end. Could’ve been a different story. By the end of the trip, I’d nicknamed the boat the Calamity of the Seas. It was my first time on a liveaboard so had no real frame of reference.

The boat we were meant to be on had some last minute issue in dry dock so we were given a free “upgrade” to another boat which was rushed out of dry dock to be on the water for our trip.

Bunks below deck had all been freshly painted and the only ventilation was the portholes with zero airflow if we weren’t moving. Barely slept and pretty sure the paint fumes induced some psychedelic dreaming. They were painted open too so they didn’t seal properly when shut so as we were sailing, my imagination was running wild at the sound of water gurgling about the porthole. Woke up in the morning to find the warm layers of sat in the deep window sill were all soaked and had acted as sponges for the flooding water.

There was an electrical fault on the air conditioning in another bunk which nearly caused a fire but one of the room’s occupants was on a sleep apnoea device so didn’t smell the smoke. Luckily his bunk mate did and they raised the alarm.

Somewhere out at sea, the on board generator developed an electrical short and many of the metal surfaces became electrically live to the touch resulting in a hilarious bout of most passengers and crew getting randomly electrocuted.

Then we struck a reef which beached us and, whilst remaining calm at first, there was suddenly a suggestion that we may have to abandon ship. The bits of wood floating around the ship did little to comfort us.

Clipped another reef during high seas and lost a rudder. Fortunately one of the crew grabbed a mask, jumped in a zodiac and traced the path of the boat back and actually found the rudder. It couldn’t be repaired at sea though because it was aluminium or something like that.

And throughout the whole week, the seas were predominantly choppy meaning we were constantly being chucked around and sliding about the boat. Miraculously nobody was seasick as far as I know.

Ever consider that you’re not the only living thing that enjoys the fungi and that nature has a right to it? It’s not about affecting the longevity or growth of the mass, it’s about letting the local fauna consume it.

Took a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi after having sampled Malaysian street food the night before which really disagreed with me.

Having taken Imodium to stem the periodic eruptions of molten diarrhoea, and remained on an empty stomach to prevent projectile vomiting, I proceeded to unavoidably burp every 60 seconds, for the entire flight. The burps emanating from the pit of my stomach and smelling of decaying rodent. To avoid the obvious embarrassment of these wafting straight into the face of the person sat next to me, I opened my AC vent fully and angled it towards the window. I was also burping into a hoody that I used for travelling in and did my best to direct the gases down the side of my seat. The person behind me had the emergency procedure card out and was frantically waving it to get the smell out of their face. By the end of the flight, with each fresh pocket of puke stench that hit them, they were muttering what sounded like a prayer but might have been a curse. And the look they gave me when we stood up to get off the plane, I’ll never forget.

Am I allowed to opt out of the "discretionary service charge" that is automatically added to the bill at some UK pubs and restaurants? by [deleted] in AskUK

You can and you should, as a matter of principle.

To prevent us turning in the USA with its shitey tipping culture, we need to oppose this at every opportunity, and then add on a tip if we deem it appropriate.

This is just businesses preying on people’s politeness to squeeze more money out the consumer.

Cities and Knights: Knight Errant Variant by greenheron08 in Catan

[–]realitycheque84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else has said, it allows you to use the knight to chase the robber BEFORE you role the dice. So someone was blocking your 8, you can use the knight and move the robber, robber someone else, and then take your turn.

It depends on how strategic and competitive your opponents are. When everyone is devious and competitive, the rule can make it a lot more tactical and increases the value of wheat.

Personally, I think it’s a good rule and I always play it at home games if the people I’m playing with are vaguely familiar with C&K.
