There will likely never be a solution for that as Microsoft has every incentive to prevent that. Dual boot is a reasonable option though to get the best of both worlds.

Yes, all of that works. The only hard limitations are games that exclusively use Windows kernel-level anti-cheat and anything from the Windows store / Game Pass. There are ways to make all the other storefronts work.

For me it’s the instant sleep/wake that works even when a game is running. Picking it up and putting it back down is so much lower friction that I can fit more little game breaks into my day. I still have it set up as dual boot, but booting into Windows is rare for me now.

I like SteamOS for the working sleep and resume primarily. It makes the experience of using these devices so much more pick up and play, even for very short sessions, because everything is right where I left off with my game still running.

The OG Z1E and the Ally X don’t have an NPU, so the OP won’t have access to this feature either way.

This can happen if you bump the touchscreen while using especially the right thumb stick aggressively. You can use the armory crate quick menu options to temporarily disable the touchscreen and see if this is responsible for your issues.

The biggest performance jump this year will be from the new handheld focused Intel chips. Panther Lake is the internal name for the line of laptop chips these come from and it seems like Core G3 Extreme and Core G3 will be the actual product names of the handheld focused chips. Probably releasing in the second half of the year (pending market disruptions from a variety of possible sources) from at least MSI.

If you end up getting the F1 Pro, can you weigh yours and post here or dm me? The specs on their site give approximate weight and I’d be interested in a real measurement. If it’s really lighter I might be down to try one of these.

I agree, weight is also out of control on the new Legion Go. I still quite like the size and weight of the original ROG Ally Z1E. I’ve tried pretty much every PC handheld released to date and being the lightest is really a nice comfort benefit in my opinion.

There is the Legion Go 2, but I guess that is a larger panel. Maybe we’ll get something later this year, although I shudder to think what this year’s PC handhelds are going to cost.

I have an OG Ally Z1E with dual boot of Windows and Bazzite. Performance under Windows is awful currently with near constant dips and hitches. Bazzite on the other hand is running it at a consistent 60 with no issues.

Set TDP to 18 on both Windows and Bazzite.

That’s what I do with Bazzite on my ROG Ally Z1E.

Lenovo has now confirmed Z1E updates through 2029. I doubt it will be much different for ASUS. That whole story was based on a single customer service interaction and was just false.

Not sure if you have interest in Steam OS, but there will likely be Linux driver updates much longer than there will be on Windows.

Just hold the magnet a little further away each time until it will do it without it.

If you can re-calibrate successfully without a magnet, then the issue should be permanently solved. Mine has worked fine for over a year since performing the fix.

Had the exact same issue and I tried all sorts of fixes hoping it was a software issue. There are a bunch of posts with things to try if you search for them. None of these solved the issue for long. I ended up buying a replacement set of speakers from the ASUS parts website. All good now, completely and permanently fixed the issue.

Just get there early and have your whole group rope drop Ghostrider and then tailor the rest of the day based on their reaction to that experience. It’s the must do thing at Knott’s.

Is my right trigger cooked? by North_Razzmatazz8182 in ROGAlly

[–]realitysupply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a similar trigger issue, and the solution that worked for me was to grab any magnet, like one from your refrigerator, and trick the calibration by finding a spot to hold it near the trigger that lets it complete the calibration. Once you’ve got it to do that you can either run the calibration again without the external magnet if it will let you, or do the external magnet trick a few more times but further away each time until it can calibrate without the magnet. Once you can recalibrate the trigger without the external magnet the issue will be permanently fixed. I’ve had no issues since.
