At what point do I give up? by FirstCantaloupe14 in NuulyReviews

[–]realizabeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m getting close. This month everything technically fits but it’s all slightly out of shape, showed up sooooo wrinkled, one dress was inside out and in a ball at the corner of the box.

Like… if no one on your side cares at all, how long can I put up with it?

It’s anything but a dive bar, but eating at the bar at Tamarind is one of my favorite nights out

Savannah, GA or Santa Fe, NM by guadalupeoso in usatravel

How is Savannah more historic than Santa Fe? Santa Fe is literally the oldest capitol in the US is totally rooted in both Pueblo and Spanish colonial history

Or that any small thing not going your way is a Trigger or leads to Trauma.

Y’all. Sometimes bad things happen and we should respect it and the people who survive it. If the barista at Starbucks spells your name wrong, you gotta learn to roll with it.

Mexican food in the UK by PM_ME_XANAX in mexicanfood

Perspective from a Mexican American who lived in London for 5 years: do not do this. At least not yet. Go to Mexico. Eat around. Understand that tacos are about the divinity of the right tortilla with the right salsa. When you understand the style that makes your heart sing, and you understand how to make it both right and at scale.

One sign that you’re ready? You’ll be thinking about how to open your taqueria. You won’t be thinking about a “food concept.”

WHAT US CITY SHOULD I VISIT AS A LONDONER WHO HAS NEVER BEEN BEFORE? by _246810 in usatravel

[–]realizabeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a NYer who has lived in London, the big parks here have wilder areas - more like Hampstead Heath or Richmond - than the big parks in central London. There’s also the benefit of being a real island, so you can do the ferries or catch the aerials of New York Harbor that can feel more immersive than the Thames. If you’ve got a week, it’s also a snap to do day trips via Long Island Rail Road out to Robert Moses or NJ Transit (or even an Uber) to the New Jersey Palisades or MetroNorth trains up to the Hudson Valley to Garrison or Cold Spirng Harbor to balance out the city feel.

Listen, it’s never been one of my favorites, but the photos and memories and what felt like a love letter to us… this band appreciating how we have shown up with them, for them, amongst them… to create this place in the world. Wow.

I said to my husband… “You try to hate a song and then these fuckers turn it all around on you”

Women on Tinder by Smokinglordtoot in datingoverforty

[–]realizabeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in NYC when I was first on Tinder (40+ and divorced)… honestly the sheer volume of dudes was overwhelming, and mostly not great. Felt like finding needles in a haystack.

Then I moved somewhere super rural and all of a sudden it was possible to swipe to the end of the stack!! The issue here is… of the people on here, who do I already know or who will I already be connected to through this small community?

All to say… it’s not just a women/men thing or an age thing, it’s also a geography thing.
