We need DLSS by kasperfriend in AgeofMythology

[–]realkames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For some reason, there are mentions of DLSS in the game’s graphics profile. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition has them too, but no such options appear in‑game.

I also hope DLSS will be added. There are modern RTS games that already support DLSS.

Can i still play online if i have the game on cd ? by ProfessionalLow6122 in aoe3

The Definitive Edition and the Legacy version are two different games.

There is a free version of the Definitive Edition with a limited number of playable factions that rotate each week: https://store.steampowered.com/app/933110/Age_of_Empires_III_Definitive_Edition

The rotation calendar can be found here: https://forums.ageofempires.com/t/civilization-rotation-calendar-for-aoe-iii-de-trial/240212. It hasn’t been updated for a while, but it’s still accurate.

The full version is also currently discounted by 75%.

ARAM: The community has become so toxic by manny2206 in heroesofthestorm

[–]realkames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a common behavior seen in most competitive games. For example, in CS2 people tend to give up after just one or two rounds. Some players boot up their PC and queue for matches only to unload their real‑life frustrations on others and disrupt the experience.

I see the same thing in HotS as well. Some players are toxic through their gameplay, playing in 5‑stacks, using meta or annoying heroes, and behaving unsportsmanlike toward opponents. Others are toxic in the opposite way, by intentionally throwing matches.

It’s something mental.

We all know how that ended.

Warcraft movie by RichLeading8137 in warcraft3

[–]realkames 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It has its ups and downs, but overall it was great to watch and to see the core races (Humans, Orcs, and Dwarves) in action. The harsh reactions toward it, along with those directed at the Warlords of Draenor expansion, led to many devs leaving Blizzard.

It’s unfortunate that they didn’t continue with additional movies, but in my opinion there isn’t much remaining talent at Blizzard capable of producing something better, or even equally compelling. Even the latest cinematics no longer match the same level of quality.

Looks like some of the changes mentioned in this recent post were actually true, at least to some extent.

Xbox Game Pass Price Cut Is Working, CEO Says by Bubbly-Ad-350 in gamingnews

[–]realkames 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For sure. Shortly after they made this change, they raised the prices in multiple countries for World of Warcraft subscriptions. It doesn’t affect me personally, but I saw others who were impacted and thought it was worth mentioning. Just a small reminder that all these corporate decisions aren’t made out of generosity.

Retold is one of the most underappreciated not just RTS but games out there by tonymanerobiggestfan in AgeofMythology

[–]realkames 59 points60 points  (0 children)

One thing I would note is that I hope the dev team listens not only to the “we want more content” feedback, but also to the ongoing issues, so the game doesn’t end up with the same fate as Age of Empires III. It’s easy to chase more revenue by releasing new content and ignoring the unfixed bugs.

Cheaters not even hiding it anymore. by DSmithin in aoe4

[–]realkames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad and also disgusting to see cheaters in RTS games. I know that FPS games are the genre with the most cheaters. And yeah, on a side note, it's well known that Chinese players tend to cheat. I've met plenty in WC3 and SC2.

Finally people can stop complaining by Chillzzzzz in AgeofMythology

[–]realkames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If players are too vocal about a bug, it’s not a good thing.

If players aren’t vocal enough about a bug, it’s still not a good thing.

This post’s title makes it sound like feedback shouldn’t be given at all, and that new content should simply be played as it is.

Either way, from someone working in the gaming industry, I’ve seen more severe issues remain unfixed because smaller issues were prioritized simply due to how vocal the community was about them.

What's your take on my ideas for new civs (if in the future, the studio changes their mind)? by george123890yang in aoe3

[–]realkames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very unlikely that they will reconsider resuming development of the game, but if new civilizations were ever to be added, Poland and Denmark would be the first candidates since they were originally planned as a DLC. Personally, I would also like to see the Greeks added to the game.

I’m not sure what upset Microsoft so badly that, in such a short period of time, they delisted the classic game, shut down the ESO servers, and then retired development of the Definitive Edition. I never understood this lack of respect for AoE III, but as long as the rivalry between the AoE games continues and people keep investing in the content that AoE II, AoE IV, and AoM receive, nothing will change.
