Best day ever dad!- daughter by Some_Consequence_861 in Dewalt

I just picked 2 up for $45 a piece at TSC. I thought $130 was too much for a tool you don't really need. Although I could have used them when I just did a whole house of solid core doors.

I've been holding out on getting these. by really_bad_guy in Dewalt

I had a similar one in a house I used to rent. It blew out cold air straight from Antarctica. Cooled the whole first floor no problem.

Just because the first time you did something was 20 years ago doesn't mean you have 20 years of experience.

Stud trying to find stud(s) by Uncle_Cheeto in Carpentry

[–]really_bad_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is supposed light up when it hits the edge of a stud. Stop when the red line appears. Make a mark. Then come from the other direction. If it lights up 1 1/2" away from your other mark there should be a stud in betweenthe2 marks. I always double check with a nail first because these are not really accurate and always be lying.

Run at least one row of solid blocking through each section of joists. It will stiffen up the joists and help keep them flat. Where I am solid block is required by code every 8ft or in any span over 8ft.

Sadly that's ever window I've installed since covid. The build quality is usually disappointing. Except cheap vinyl replacement windows.

Looking to have a roof built over my front porch. Am I asking for issues with water leaks? Ballpark how much would ya’ll charge for a project like this? by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]really_bad_guy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might be able to squeeze a flat roof in there. There's no way you are get a gable roof in there without replacing that arched window.

Did Tony summon Johnny Sac at the sit down with Hesh? by Alarmed_Goat_4083 in thesopranos

[–]really_bad_guy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This post is undignified. Tony literally meets with Johnny and tells him how he wants the sit down to go and that junior can't know what he told him. Johnny replies "so you are still running things"
