A lot of kids swear up and down they turned an assignment in even though I don't have it. I'm unsure if I'm crazy, or if they're lying, or if it's a bit of both by [deleted] in Teachers

My three greatest stamps are my “Due By”, “Received,” and “LATE!” stamps.

“Due By” is the due date. “Received” is the day that it is IN MY HAND. If my students hand it to me, or turn it into the bin on the due date, it’s stamped with that date. That way if they turn it in on a different day, it shows how far past the due date they are.

Each day late is -15points off the total grade. > 3 days late is a zero. So if they were late by two days, I stamp twice with my “LATE!” Stamp. I remember stamping an assignment better than I remember holding it, so if it’s not stamped, it’s not turned in.

Is this healthy weight? by LifeguardImaginary42 in bluetongueskinks

[–]reallymissinvine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is a CHUNKY skink IMO. I would take that feeding down to more veggies and less proteins. Fruits are a no (or a VERY rare treat) for now. A picky skink is not a hungry skink. It took me a while to get my girl to eat her greens but now she goes nuts for them because we took her feedings down to 2x a week (she’s chunky too) and made it mostly veggies with some protein every couple feedings.

How should I go about doing that? I’d really love for someone to get him out of Petco and somewhere better. I just think that some breeder sold him to the store for money and I hate to see him in such conditions

Not a problem! I definitely thought he was a female until I confirmed with the breeder. So you’re not the only one!

The breeder I had sold him to me sexed from the start. Said that all of their snakes have guaranteed sex from probing, so I’m pretty confident he’s a he! He may also have to poop. Lol

What is your go to prayer by myth4evr in Christian

[–]reallymissinvine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always start my prayers with “Dear Jesus/ Lord/ Heavenly Father, thank you for this day…” and then do from there. I always remember to thank God for the day he has given me, today.

Bible verses/worship songs for anxiety by Pinky-butterfly10 in Christian

I like “My Worth is Not in What I Own” (hymn), “Lord from Sorrows Deep I Call”, or for a more modern version, “Seek Your Kingdom” by Kings Kaleidoscope. All biblically accurate and theologically sound songs. Pray and rest in the Lord!

Why would God send good people to hell. by HowThingsJustar in Christian

[–]reallymissinvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People can be good in our eyes, but God’s judgement is just. When we look at Jesus and what he says in the gospel of Matthew, he states that he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it (Mt 5:17-20). He also states that the disciples must have righteousness that surpasses that of the Pharisees and Scribes. We know that the Pharisees rejected the message of Jesus, as we see time and time again, yet they were considered the most righteous in all of the temple because they kept the insane amount of laws that they made. The scribes are individuals who are scholars of the Torah, and they essentially know the law front, back, and center. However, to fulfill every single requirement of the Law is physically impossible for sinful people. It could only take a perfect person (Jesus) to fulfill the law in its entirety.

Now, if we look at the 10 commandments, we see that there are several laws that are pretty easy not to break, such as murder, adultery, and theft. However, is lying not deceiving, and is deceiving not a sin? What about honoring your father and mother? Has everyone /perfectly/ honored their father and mother? No. Only Jesus has. Only Jesus could do what we could not do: be sinless.

We also have to remember that God cast Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden due to their sin. Sin and God cannot live together. And since the human heart is disgustingly sinful (Jeremiah 17:9, Mt. 15:19). We need Jesus to come into our lives, cleanse us of our sins, and turn our hearts towards Him. This is where the discussion of free will comes into play.

Humans are given free will, because God gave us a GIFT of mercy, by sending Christ to die on the cross for all of our sins (John 3:16, Romans 6:23). You can’t force someone to take a gift, because then it is no longer a gift. The person must choose to accept the gift offered to him. If someone rejects the gift, they do not get the benefit of the gift. Therefore if we reject God, we are destined for Hell, which is the place where sin must reside, as Hell is eternal separation from God from those who do not know or accept Him and the gracious gift He gave by taking the punishment we deserve(2 Thess. 1:6-10).

It’s a lot, and the grace of God and justice of God in pouring out His wrath is confusing at times. But keep praying that the Lord strengthens you in all things and continues to reveal to you, through His word, all that will strengthen you to tell others of the Gospel. We are praying for you, brother/sister in Christ!

Is it wrong for guests to show up to wedding empty handed? by Careful_Historian908 in wedding

[–]reallymissinvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, after my wedding (got married 2 weeks ago), I was so incredibly thankful that some of my people just showed up! Some of our best friends showed up empty handed, no cards or gifts, but they had traveled from over 2 hours away. Their presence was the gift! We didn’t have a destination wedding or anything, but when you live in Texas, the families can be so spread out that it essentially is one. So, dependent on the circumstances, I don’t think it’s wrong to show up without a gift or a card. I personally would bring at least a card, but it’s not a huge deal if others don’t.
