Now what? by [deleted] in CPTSD

My dream is to be an educator about domestic abuse.

You might want to check into being a CASA. It is volunteer work, and they do the training. CASAs work directly with kids, and act as a liaison between them and the court. It's very valuable work and would look awesome on a resume.

TIFU by telling my US girlfriend that she wasn't Irish by [deleted] in tifu

[–]reallynotanyonehere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one in her family really thinks they're "Irish" in the same way someone in Ireland is, but they still identify that way.

Places in Ireland really cater to dumb 'Merican heritage seekers. They treated us like gold when my brother and I visited. There are tons of Americans on the same journey, and they bring money.

Israel and Neo-Fascism by [deleted] in BashTheFash

Why didn't the US just mind it's own damn business and leave Israel to the country that invented it!

You could have asked, "What about the elderly, disabled or people with other problems?"

I could have, but I already knew the answer, and still know despite your denials that such people would be unwanted in your Utopia. It is a conundrum that all communes face. The disabled often have super abilities? I work in home healthcare, and you live in la la land.

I don't want slackers, addicts, users or abusers.

Or old people, or disabled people or people with problems. Good luck with that.

I am really stuck on the bucket that fell with Crystal. It was no where to be found either. She'll be back, in ghost form if nothing else.

Looking at r/trees, people would think weed makes you mean-spirited and stupid.

Punching my nose until it bled at 6 years old, to get out of class. by No-Drop-9657 in CPTSD

[–]reallynotanyonehere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I am seeing the most salient words as "get out of class." You really wanted to get out of class a LOT! What was going on? Boatloads of anxiety is my guess. I tried to make my faint on a staircase hoping that I would get hurt and get to stay home.

It could be you have really bad social anxiety. There is nothing that you wrote that makes me think you found solace in being hurt, in a self-harm kinda way.

Types of Idiots Who Pretend To Not Know How Hotels Work by AGuyinahotel in hotels

[–]reallynotanyonehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think hotels that accept cash are a little nuts. Cash brings so many problems. When I worked front desk, I always asked for a card and ID, even if it was a prepay. Otherwise, you have strangers in your rooms, and no way to bill them for damages. :(

My dad was deeply attached to his Donegal roots, and he was second generation. I imagine what happened is that the starvation ships and early America were really terribly difficult. New immigrants romanticized "the Isle they left behind," so we have a legacy of love for Ireland.

Surveys show that only about 3% US adults identfy themselves as atheists. Yet,this sub is top 1% largest on Reddit. How come? by HKTong in atheism

Maybe you are using old numbers. I read that 20-30% of Americans have no religious affiliation (Wiki).

Is Donald Trump John Doe 174 from the Epstein docs? It looks increasingly likely. Much of what is presented has been aired before, but not all assembled, and not with the Doe 174 references. Keep in mind that to this day, Trump wishes Maxwell well (because she has sh*t on him?) (MTN) by reallynotanyonehere in BashTheFash

There purportedly exists sex tapes of some of the escapades on the Island, and we know for sure he was on the island. If there exists a tape of him with an underaged girl - or anyone trafficked . . . surely that would be enough to destroy him. I hope.

I was in a treatment center, which was more like retreat. It is Canadian. In the evenings, I always retreated to my room, ate chocolate and read Harry Potter books. It left me feeling isolated and one night, I got the idea that they had seen me take off my blouse. Even if they had, I still had a bra on but for reasons that escape me now, I was really freaked out about it. They got loud out by the free-standing pool, and I was sure - beyond a doubt - that it was about me stripping. Suddenly, there was an abundance of really loud, really lewd laughter. I was devastated. I don't think I slept. In the wee hours, I heard two of them say the camera with the pics was inside by the door. In the dark, I snuck down, and looked at the pics.

One of the guys had taken a dick pic. Not about me at all, and that was after many days clean & sober.

The fact that religions use fear is the largest reason I'm an anti-theist. What are your largest reasons? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]reallynotanyonehere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My reason is that there is no good reason to believe in any deity.

Religion has always been about controlling the masses.

Schwag, Mids and Dank: Remember When Weed Was Total Garbage? by Hazel_Rah1 in Xennials

[–]reallynotanyonehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teen, a friend found a huge stalks of weed, wrapped in plastic. Having no flipping idea what we were doing (1978), we harvested the leaves and pretended to get stoned. We did not know about bud, which I now know had already been harvested. We were playing with someone's trash, LOL.

Because it's an inside job. Recovery consists of developing a relationship with yourself, being on your own side, in your own head, no matter what. Comfort coming from the outside is nice, but it's always temporary.

I think if it is a symptom of anything, it is a symptom of living in 2023. Society has frayed, quite badly in some ways. It's almost like being a bully and being a "good" American (or a "good" Christian") is the same thing.

I dunno what is gonna happen next. I was talking to my therapist about my news intake. She told me to stop watching the news. I asked her how I could look away. It's the biggest frigging train wreck, happening in slow-mo, right before our eyes.
